Dear friends,
I'm very happy indeed that so many of you can come to Jesus College on the 16th April, for a very special Young Stationers' dinner in Oxford, with this year's High Sheriff, and an assortment of friends who work in writing and publishing or study and teach it.
We will be visiting Merton College beforehand, to be shown the Old Library by librarian Julia Walworth, and be told by Dr Giles Bergel about new research into the origins of British publishing drawing on the Stationers' Register. Dr Tiffany Stern (Univ), University Professor of Early Modern Drama, will be along to talk about Shakespeare and his Stationers.
We will then be dining in Jesus College, with sherry, three courses, and wine, a short jovial address by the High Sheriff (who also is clerk of the Stationers, and a printer), an after-dinner speech by a senior member of the publishing profession, and after-festivities.
Please do come join us and bring friends, and we promise a very pleasant evening. (You could book in by sending dining fees, which come to £48, to the Lloyds TSB account in my name, with sort code 30-96-35 and account 02779270.)
I look forward to seeing many of you for a very festive feast on the 16th, and please do let me know however I might be of any help!
with all very best wishes,
Paddy
