Dear Young Stationers and friends,

Just a very quick note about two points: next Tuesday's Young Stationers' Annual Dinner at Stationers' Hall, for which the speaker will be the editor of Hansard; and the deadline, at midnight tonight, for the 2014 Young Stationers' Prize, which will be awarded at the dinner.

1. Young Stationers' Annual Dinner with the editor of Hansard

The Young Stationers are very chuffed indeed that on 22d July they will be joined by the editor of Hansard, the official record of the House of Commons, for their annual dinner in Stationers' Hall.

Lorraine Sutherland in 2005 became the first woman editor of the Official Report, and so overseeing the team of 95 reporters, editors, and technical and support staff who produce the edited verbatim reports as well as the televised and webcast broadcasts of the House of Commons and its committees.

She's taken Hansard into both the digital age, and the App Store - the Hansard (Official Reports) app has become the first iPad application offered by The Stationery Office.

The dinner will be a bit of a homecoming for the editor of Hansard! Both Luke Hansard (1752 –1828) and his son Thomas Curson Hansard (1776–1833) were members of the Stationers' Company, and Hansard père's portrait currently adorns the Court Room.

We'll be dining in Stationers' Hall, as our annual visit to our home pitch, and to make our Annual Dinner more jolly, we'll be awarding our first Young Stationers' Prize, for promise and contributions to journalism, publishing, and printing by someone who will generally be under the age of 40. The Worshipful Company of Pewterers has kindly donated the Prize trophy, which will bear all the names of our prizewinners and will trundle along with us to our dinners.

Do please come, and book your tickets here! http://www.stationers.org/young-stationers-annual-dinner-tuesday-22-july-2014.html. Dinner's black tie.

2. 2014 Young Stationers' Prize

The Young Stationers would be also very grateful for nominations for their ‘Young Stationers’ Prize’, which will be awarded to a person (generally under 40 years of age) who, in the opinion of the judges, has made the most recognisable contribution to the trades of the Company, as well as for future promise.

This prize will be awarded at the forthcoming Young Stationers’ Annual Dinner in Stationers’ Hall on 22nd July.

Please submit your nominations to Liveryman Pádraig Belton by email (padraig...@gmail.com) by midnight on 15th July 2014. See attached flyer for more details.

with all very best wishes, and many thanks,

Paddy
