Dear Friends,
Assalaamualekum,
We are pleased to present the elaborate report on the Utilization of the Zakat Fund, one of our most important projects undertaken diligently since last two years.
Zakat is a very potent instrument which can properly utilized to eradicate many financial issues the community is facing. Realizing the effective use of Zakat, Association of Muslim Professionals (AMP) decided to undertake the important Project of Zakat Fund Collection& Disbursal 2 years back. Carrying off from Year 2013’s Zakat collection of Rs.206000 we received Zakat Collections which increased by almost 4 times to Rs.7.99 lakhs in Year 2014, Alhamdulillah, which further impressed upon the faith people have placed in us and allowed us to undertake more good work and get the benefits to more people with our humble efforts. We would like to reiterate that we have taken all the necessary measures to ensure that the entire amount of money is utilized very judiciously and that it is distributed strictly as per the mandates of the Shariah.
As per our policy and adhering to our vision of educated and empowered Muslim society, we have been concentrating specially on education and financial empowerment of the community and have focussed on two main purposes for disbursement of funds.
1) To support Higher Education; and 2)To create avenues of Self Employment.
As the famous proverb goes, “Give a man a fish, you feed him for a day, Teach him how to fish, you fed him for a lifetime’, we prefer to utilize the Zakat money to create means of livelihood for the needy such as putting up a mobile repair shop, buy or repair an auto rickshaw, help someone in their professional studies rather than just giving the money for routine expenses. This aspect of the Zakat distribution can be understood from the list of beneficiaries we are sharing. It is our mission that the beneficiaries of today become the benefactors of tomorrow.
We have also taken care that we are able to reach across the country for disbursements of funds and have tried to spread benefit to almost every state in the country. Though, last year saw some very severe calamities hitting us in certain parts of the country more-so in the Northern Part of India specifically in the Kashmir region affecting their lives and livelihood, we saw to it that we could spread our reach to Kashmir as well.
