Hi,

Do you have any good & simple php frameworks in mind? Or should we
just take bits'n'pieces from PEAR and build it ourselves?

We could also discuss about the whole service, will we continue to
develop this in PHP or should we change to something else (Python/Ruby/
Perl/Java/COBOL?!!!) :D

Currently we have couple of developers who are willing to code and
have some free time and they both do their stuff in PHP, if we want to
change to something completely different, that is doable but we need
more people who could help with the new language of our choice :)

Hey there,

I would say that PHP is currently the obvious choice but the backend servers would probably be good to have in a language that has been designed for that. I'm thinking Python or C(++)... Maybe...

However we would need somebody who can code in one of those languages. I certainly can not.

I dont like PEAR as it usually f*cks things up by forcing to use
obsolete components.

But if we choose to use PEAR it has really good components for DB/
Session etc management.

Smarty would be a good choice for templates, although it is as bloat
as PEAR. do we want to have so large footprint?
