The UT Austin Africa 2026 Conference as part of its events marking the anniversary celebration for its SILVER JUBILEE welcomes posters for its call for submissions of papers in the humanities, social sciences, sciences, health, medicine, pharmacy and other disciplines on the multifaceted nature of African Movements, Migrations, Labor & Displacements and same for those of the Diaspora. The objective of this conference is to encourage conversations rooted in the rich and diverse knowledge of the African people, focusing on African epistemologies, ontologies, and concepts that have shaped the continent’s worldviews on Labor, Movements, (im)migration, and well-being. This conference will provide a platform to critically examine the construction, imagination, and conceptualization of African labor and Immigration paradigms; as well as with the history of peoples’ experiences of these and movements and crisis. We invite posters that engage with systems and traditions in all eras and regions of the world. We particularly encourage poster proposals examining relations and historical processes of power in (im)migration, refugee movement, labor, displacement and wellbeing. We welcome proposals that address the role of policy in reinforcing and challenging social hierarchies of race, gender, empire/nation, ability, and more; that build connections between the history of migration/displacement and related fields and disciplines; and that expand the methodological, thematic, chronological, and geographic diversity of the history of these fields and areas of thematic concerns.
Posters will be displayed during the poster session PARTICULARLY on Thursday April 2 and Saturday, April 4, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM and from 9:30 AM to 11:00 PM respectively.
