SUMMARY OF EXPERIENCE:
Since graduation in 1971, I have been involved in four major areas
of activities.
The
first ten years of my career was spent on the bench acquiring and
developing diagnostic skills and using acquired knowledge and
expertise to find solutions to the problems of viral disease
epidemics. In the last decade, emphasis has shifted to developing and
training younger researchers through:
Seeking research funds from national and international
agencies, private organization, etc to maintain research facilities
and conduct studies.
Reorienting research activities with emphasis on applying
acquired skills and knowledge to tackle common public health
problems. By this approach, we concentrated on preventing viral
diseases through proper monitoring of vaccines and vaccinated
populations and rapid diagnosis of diseases.
*
Organization and coordination of training programs for medical
scientist.
Currently, my focus is on integrating laboratory diagnostic services
with disease surveillance for disease prevention and control in the
African region.
