Gratitude (Idupe Oore) Have we offered the most basic prayer this morning, which is to Ori? It is so simple that it is doable anywhere and everywhere. If it has not been done already, it is still okay to do it since the lapse was not deliberate. Hold Ori with both hands and pray, silently or as loudly as we want to. If holding the Ori might call unnecessary attention, assuming we are outside our private arenas, the prayer can be said with humility without holding ori. Thank your ori (personal god), your egungun, Ifa or the Orisas for yesterday's blessings—big or small—felt or unnoticed. We know that our prayers through the mentioned energies are always to Odumare. There are so many reasons why we should thank the energies and Odumare: Being alive this morning is one of them, having surviving yesterday is one of the reasons, yesterday's successes (even failures) is one of the reasons. If yesterday's events were not as great as we wanted them to be, today is another opportunity for that dream. So, thank Odumare for yesterday's blessings so He may be as generous as he has always been for today's and tomorrow's blessings. Ifa recommends continuous gratitude when it quotes Orunmila: Ka se ope Ifa recommends gratitude, etc. (partially posted once already) Difa fun Orunmila Divined for Orunmila Baba nlo dupe oore ana Baba was going to give his thanks for yesterday's gift / favor / blessings [Orunmila went to thank his benefactor] Ki o le gba ore ti oni bo So he may receive today's blessings in return. Etc. When Orunmila decided to thank his benefactor for a past favor, according to Ifa, Orunmila was not expecting anything else in return. The benefactor was so appreciative of Orunmila's appreciation that he blessed Orunmila more because he (benefactor) had the capacity to release the additional blessing. Orunmila was also surprised because his appreciation to his benefactor was without the unexpected, additional blessing. May our simple prayers, lengthy prayers, simple or grand offerings to Ori, egungun, Ifa and the Orisas be accepted by Odumare. May abundant blessings be showered on us for our "Thanks" to Odumare. Ase. Yesterday was ose Ifa. I hope we all remembered to thank the Orisas with the usual oti, omi tutu, orogbo meji, ata ire (ataare), and obi abata meji. It is not too late to do that today.
