Just starting out myself

I found you two, lol, on the DIY Drones site, I am working on getting
started on my first RC plane and wanted to do a uav. I am in very
very beginning stages of things, I just ordered a PROJET MQ-9 Reaper
98" from nitroplanes, to use as my platform. From my research this is
not the best platform but it just looks cool, and whats cooler than a
UAV UAV...lol..I have been reading a few other build logs for this
plane on various sites, and have found a few on DIY Drones, with guys
looking to do the same plane and close to the same setup I am going
for. My plane wont show up till 4/13/11 and then I have to get
started building the kit and figuring/ordering all my parts and
electronics, so I am far from flying anything but wanted to check you
guys out, at least it will be some other people to bounce ideas off
of, until we get some things in the air.

Since you are just starting out in RC, you might want to look at some of the clubs in the area.  Of course, flying at a club field will require that you be a member of the AMA.  I joined the Buck RC club down in Quarryville.  I live in Craley.  It's a bit of a drive, but I really like the field and the club members.  As long as you are a member of the AMA, you can fly as a guest at any club field, at least for a while.  It might be hard to find a place to fly your MQ-9 otherwise, but maybe you already have some place in mind.  In any case, I'll be happy to help get you started with flying when you are ready.  I strongly suggest getting a flight simulator if possible.  It's a great way to learn how to fly.
