I have Yojimbo notes dating back to 2010, which would make it laborious to manually cut and paste.

Exporting from Yojimbo is easy. Select the items you want to move. Choose File > Export. Specify a folder to put the items in.

BUT, I don’t see a way to usefully import stuff into the Mac Notes app.

You can select all the files that you have exported and drag them to a note, but they stay as attachments which does not seem useful to me.

What I’m really not sure about is why in the world you would want to move info from Yojimbo into Notes?

Maybe because Ria wants access to these notes when away from Yojimbo (i.e. on a smartphone)?

Yojimbo is a pillar of my electronic life. I have it on multiple computers and on my iPad, and pay monthly for the syncing service. However, whenever I’m out and about with my iPhone and want to save a file, image, web page, etc to Yojimbo, I ‘haz a big old sad’ because I have to rely on some convoluted process to ensure that I’m able to do this when I’m back in front of Yojimbo. Very often, the app I end up using as a ‘holding tank’ is Notes.

Like I say, I wouldn’t give up Yojimbo because it’s well-crafted and reliable; however, the lack of ability to add directly to it from an iPhone or iPad is a big ol’ gap, and I wouldn’t look askance at another person who chooses to move to something like Notes, due to this lack.

Not sure if you ever got an answer to this, but here goes anyway. Select all your notes in Yojimbo and use the File->Export... menu to export these to a folder. Then go to Notes and use File->Import Notes menu and import that folder. This will create an Imported Notes folder with your folder underneath that.

In a test I just tried, the note title does not get moved over, which is what I expected, but attachments and any other rich data in the note seems to be correctly handled by Notes.
