Ive been enjoying the back and forths on this issue. Thanks to everyone who cares or is vested in enough to chime in.

I've been wondering why a solution like the application Mac Things uses (their own cloud) wouldn't work for Yojimbo. Why would Yojimbo have to associate with Apple and its iCloud? There may be obvious contraindications to this of which I am not aware but still...

Though we did consider private storage as a potential option, we determined
it's not feasible for Yojimbo's needs. (For instance, among many other
factors, the amount of data involved with Yojimbo is far greater.)

By way of example, a pretty typical Things database would be on the order of 100K to 5 MB in size.  A Yojimbo database could be 500 MB to 5 GB (or more ;-)

Still, hoping the data sync gets ironed out at some point.  Oh, and retina support gets added too :-P

Hey Patrick,

I am not enjoying the guessing game anymore.

What are you talking about: "is far greater".... > what? .... Aren't you guessing that your users won't pay for storage? .....

I, for one, value secure storage and am not happy with iCloud pricing not because of the absolute price but because that which can be stored and synced seems very very limited .... and without things like Yojimbo.... my storage needs are trivial for iCloud

So how about asking us, the loyal BareBones / Yojimbo users, what we want to do? wrt storage ... I don't think BB has ever asked me a single question about my opinions with respect to storage .... though I have asked a lot of questions of BB that are normally not answered...

I'm really beginning to wonder if BB hasn't dug a hole from which they can't see a way out ....

Sorry, I meant that the amount of data storage needed by Yojimbo is much
greater than the amount of storage needed by Things, and this difference in
scale affects the range of solutions.

More generally, there is no "silver bullet" solution we can just pick up to
do everything necessary, whether or not that would involve us charging for
storage.
