Dear Yoga Friends,
After traveling for 5 months I am very happy to be back in Japan.  I love where I live and the people I know here.  People outside of Japan find it hard to imagine why I would want to live here now, but I feel like this is where my home is and I want to stay.
When I decided to go traveling at the beginning of this year, I had lost my English teaching job at a great high school right near my house.  It was good timing for me because I was thinking of going traveling but it was also hard to imagine letting go of such a good job.  Finally the decision was made for me. I spoke to one of my best friends who I had gone to India with 10 years ago and we she was also free to travel at that time.  So it felt like it was the right time. Then in February one of my co-workers got pregnant and I was offered my job back. But I knew right away that the answer was 'no'.  So I let it go, wanting to believe that something would work out when I got back.  While I was traveling I occasionally wondered what I would do this fall and thought about how annoying it would be to look for a new job. Then I received an e-mail saying that another one of the teachers at my school had gotten pregnant and that they would like me to come back to teach this fall.  So I said 'yes' and could continue traveling without worries.
When I decided to travel, I really wanted to trust that everything would work out with my job, and in the end it did.  Some people say I am lucky but I think it has more to do with having faith and manifesting what you would like to happen.  I really wanted an easy transition back into working and an opportunity to teach at the same school, and I got it.  So I will start in November.
I will continue teaching yoga in Hayama at Moriyama jinja.  However I will not be teaching in Tokyo at Sun and Moon.  I have been teaching there for 7 years, so it is hard for me to imagine not teaching there!  I love Sun and Moon and I am so grateful for all the love and support I have received from Leza, the teachers and the students there.  Thank you all!Â
I will also start to teach at a new yoga studio in my area, Akiya Yoga House.  My friends have put a lot of love and hard work over the last year into renovating an old house and turning it into a yoga studio.  It is truly a sanctuary, situated right on the side of a hill surrounded by trees and bamboo.  I will start to teach there in October when they open.  For those of you who live in the area, you might like to check out their space on September 24th at their Opening Party.  (light snacks served and live sitar performance) Please check out their blog for details (and photos): akiyayogahouse.blogspot.com
I am looking forward to re-connecting with everyone.  I will try to post some photos from my trip on my blog soon. yogabytheseajapan.blogspot.com

The text then goes through numerous techniques for achieving this goal. The course covers Master Patanjali's explanation of mental afflictions and their remedies, how to establish a strong practice, qualities of a good teacher, the important and practice of Love, Compassion, Joy, and Equanimity, and the direct perception of ultimate reality.
