Hey hay Yoga Types,
I have a question for you.
I have a student who does not have any cartalidge in her knees.
Painful! She likes to work on her yoga, but I am worried about
working with standing asanam with her. I was thinking that I could
probably get by with some chair work with. She is fine when on the
ground, it is just asanam like Virabhadrasana 1 & 2 where it is an
issue. In other words 'bent knees...'
I think I may have ansered my own question. Sorry about the spelling.

Cheers,
Alec

She needs to build up her thigh muscles esp the quads because they hold the
knee in place & keep it from grinding so much. So standing poses are
important. Try to have her bend less, get more arch in feet, be sure knee is
not going past ankle, activate & lift up on thigh like she was pulling knee
to belly. Workonthat in tadasana too. Check to see if she hyperextends knee
also in Tadasana & Triangle.

Sometimes students teach me, and sometimes the room teaches me.
