~AS. The Panshikar reading is the same. You need to keep the words upavIte avIte ca as separate. The sandhi is NOT optional here, but forbidden! The vowels I,U,e are known as pragRhya (to be held back), when they appear at the end of a dual form. They do not combine with following vowel.
For people who want to know the rules, they are in these two sUtras:
IdUded-dvivacanam pragRhyam|
adaso mAy plutapragRhyA aci nityam |
BTW, the Panshikar edition is simply a scanned copy of the Nirnayasagar edition from 1918. This is the edition that I had sent out on CD to people who requested it. After downloading all the 1500 pages from DLI, I had combined them into handy chunks of pdf files.
This edition was reprinted as the Munshiram Manoharlal publication in 1981 in two volumes. It was a photocopy and so as flawless as the original (with rare errors). This can be purchased.
It also is the basis of the so-called Gupta edition (KG); but they decided to set type and rearrange the text to make the AB commentary appear near the text rather than as a footnote. They goofed and introduced numerous fresh errors! For example, they tried to make the wise correction of "sandhi", showing ignorance of Panini :-)
