*AS. The sky is said to be filled with large lotuses (sthUla-padma-maya) due to the red painted hands of the dancing girls. "It (the sky) looked like one whose garments are strewn with things scattered by ministers and citizens, the materials were the various flowers and puffed rice (lAlA) which are commonly thrown as being auspicious. Think of rice thrown at a marriage. See AB commentary.

*vlm.p.10 Silken veils, like autumn clouds, covered the faces of fairy maidens in their dancing. They glittered like so many moons shining in the courtyard.

*jd. I do not and will never translate "mukta" as "liberated". such a translation is not consistent with the very basis of YV, which is mokSa Freedom by means of personal effortpauruSa. when one follows this method, one frees oneself. so a jivanmukta, in my reading, is a Living Freeman; or, better, Freeperson....

PADMA'S REIGN

1.12.1

Vasishtha said—

So

Sarasvatii spoke

&

then

she disappeared into Inner Space

.

then

as the day-lotuses woke to the dawn, the people came awake also

.

2

The Raaja then embraced Liilaa

&

Liilaa in her turn embraced

over and over

her great joy

once dead, now resurrected

3-4

&

now

the Royal Palace became filled

with excited, amorous, foolish, joy-mad people,

making music with their songs and laughter

:

a deep-rumbling hubbub of pious cries of praise and thanks

from happily thriving people

wishing each other a happy day

:

they overflowed the courtyard, already teeming with the royal retinue

.

5

There were

Siddha.Adepts

and Widyaadhara.Magicians scattering a storm of flowers among

a thousand sounding tabors, trumpets, and tambourines, blaring conch.horns,

&

doubledrums

.

6

The up.raised trunks of elephants blow.forth their blasts

as

a raucous crowd of girls laugh madly while they dance

the crazy Taandava, the Doomsday Dance

.

07 08 09 10 11 12 13 14 15 16

17

.

&

when

Living.Free, they had ruled the kingdom for those eight glorious* years

they entered Bodiless.Freedom

as realized Siddha.Adepts

.

*jd. Here it is again, the Royal Augmentative: a year is said to be ten thousand:

the number 8 is significant, the rest is splash:

or maybe it was 8 years that _felt_ like 80,000.

*Avinash.S. The sky is said to be filled with large lotuses (sthUla.padma.maya) due to the red painted hands of the dancing girls. "It (the sky) looked like one whose garments are strewn with things scattered by ministers and citizens, the materials were the various flowers and puffed rice (lAlA) which are commonly thrown as being auspicious.
