~vlm. It is wet with moisture, which is sucked by the sun, resembling the swan swimming about in the air. It folds itself in sleep in the darkness of night in absence of the sun.
~sv. It was like the lotus of the heart, with the directions for its petals, the netherworld for the mud in which it grows, held by the divine serpent which is the root.
कदाचिद् आस्पदाम्भोधि-कम्प-कम्पित-दिग्-दलम् । अधो-नाल-गतानन्त-दैत्य-दानव-कण्टकम् ॥३।२५।६॥

the heart of the mountain,
the seed of the Beings

The mount meru (and others) are its large seeds, and the great hives of human population; where the fair daughters of the giant race, propagated (the race of men), by their sweet embrace (with the sons of God). * This means the demons to have first peopled the borders and skirts of the earth. See Hesiod. Works and Days Book I. V 200. * That the meru or Altain chain in Scythia, was the great hive of human race is an undisputed truth in history. So Moses speaks of the giant race in Genesis chapter VI. V 2 and 4. "And there were giants in the earth in those days".
~DC - What is being meant here??! Every word seems to have a meaning, all together - it is gone :o(( In the centre, here is a great world-base (mountain), grown with vines of female asuras with fair daughters of pleasure and seed of beings.
~AS. The female demons are compared to be parts of a vine which was ready for intercourse and having acquired the seed of kings (bhUbhRt-mahAbIjam became impregnated with life (bhUtabIjayA). Thus, it is describing the demons being born due to kings.

~vlm. It contains nine varshas or divisions, which are ruled by nine brother kings, resembling the regents of its eight petalled sides, with the Bhárata-varaha in the midst.

AS. SaTpada is a bee. The gods and oceans in the 8 directions are like different bees on its petals. The second line describes 9 kings which rule 9 parts of it.

~DC. (earth) is spread out by thousand miles and is full of different human races and nations, many like drops in rain.
~AS. I agree with you, except lakSa is 100 thousand and yojana is not exactly a mile. It varies between 2 and 8 miles(:-)) Also, you don't have the covered with dust particles (AkIrnAm ca rajolavaiH). These can also be interpreted as life since rajas is related to life. The next line might be taken to described what kind of life,

मेर्व्-आदि-द्रावणोत्केन ज्वाला-जालेन मालिताम् । एतस्माद् अथ सर्वस्मात् ततो दश-गुणात्मना ॥३।२५।३१॥

traversed the emptiness,

rushing at speeds surpassing speed;

and everywhere,

~vlm. They threatened to blow away and uproot the mountains, as if they were dust or grass; and traversed the empty vacuum with their noiseless motion. • Afar from these they saw the empty space of vacuum, stretching wide all about them.
