~vlm.13. All the other chiefs and sages, that were present in that assembly, had the gems of their hearts purged of their dross by the preachings of vasiSTha; and their minds glowed with fervour from his impressive speech.

~sv.14-15-16-17 At noon, the conches gave the time-signal and the assembly rose for the midday interval.

~vlm.16. The muni stopped his breath and ceased to give utterance his speech; because it is in vain to speak where it is not heeded or listened to. (The wise should hold their tongue, when it has lost its power to hold people by their ears).

in such surrounding (of great sound), muni stopped his speech,
his voice was subdued by raised great noise

AS:
The muni held his speech within himself, for what great person would speak aloud about qualities (guNa) which have accomplished their essential goal?

These appeared garlanded by bees in this case their eyes might be compared to the bees, or it could be their black tresses. They were waving their massive arms about (trunks in case of elephants). They arose in the mountain called "sandhyA" which can mean evening or western mountain where the sun sets. The elephants might be on the move in the evening.
