Hi everybody,
I just wanted to share this group that I found on Facebook called the 'Yoga Teaching Exchange'. It is a group of teachers and teachers-in-training that gather together on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month to practice teaching yoga. In rotation, the members take turns teaching a class to the rest of the group. At the end of class they meet to give feedback to the teacher for the evening. One Sunday they meet in Oakland at the Piedmont Yoga Studio, and one Sunday they meet in SF at Nomadic Outfitters. If you are not on Facebook, you can email the group's manager at yteg...@gmail.com and join. This could be a nice opportunity for those of us who want to eventually teach, to refine our skills before going out into the big scary yoga world!
See you all on Saturday!
Becky

Thanks Becky.  This would be so useful.  I have heard that we should practice as much as possible to reinforce what we are learning.  Maybe a group of us can get a carpool together the next time its out in Oakland (those of us coming from the city).  Looking forward to Saturday!

I think it sounds great too.

I have a lot of perfectionist fear around teaching and I find I am already naturally listening to what other teachers are saying as they teach.

If we had the chance to watch all each other teach, I really feel we would benefit by being more comfortable.

I would totally be up for carpooling if we could coordinate that.  (.... only I don't drive ;) )

If you are on Facebook, please friend me, the email I use is brian.ca...@gmail.com -

I am already a member of the Teachers Exchange.  Let me know how to proceed.

Thanks yogin folks,

Brian

Is anybody sore from class yesterday?  I was already feeling it around 10 PM. I guess it's a signal that I need to increase my home practice!

I'm not feeling sore, but that last supine floor version of Side Angle pose was intense. I thought Karl did a great job.

I felt incredibly sore and fatigued last night, but for some strange reason I feel good today! Karl was great, we're lucky to have some really amazing teachers here in the Bay Area!

For the ladies in class, there's a great women's only class at the Abode of Iyengar studio on Fridays at 4:30 if you're interested. Athena is a great teacher!! I'll be there if anyone wants to join me. The studio is on Monterey Blvd near City College.
See you soon,
Becky

Yes, me too. And I'm pretty fatigued this morning. I was thinking the same thing. I want to incorporate some of those standing poses against the wall this week.

I still feel incredibly sore.  Many of the excercises we did yesterday really hurt my ankle.

Totally un-intentional, but I can feel it alot.

I am going to go to the Studio "yoga to the people," studio today.

I went out with a few of them last night and am thinking about trying it today.

Any takers?

Same for me but felt like yesterday we really started getting 'into it'. And completely agree on a more consistent home practice!

I thought it was a great class.  Is anyone interested in going to one of Karl's classes this week, either Monday at 6 or Wednesday at 7:30?  I was thinking it might help reinforce what we learned yesterday.  Brian, I would like to try that studio sometime, today doesn't work for me but let me know if you are going any other time.

I'm definitely sore, despite the epsom salt bath, legs up the wall, and coconut water.

"The more I learn, the less I know" is my motto right now.  I keep thinking that my brain will adjust, that I'll be less overwhelmed when I leave class, but I'm not sure that it'll happen anytime soon.  I guess that they all don't call it "immersion" for nothing.

Karla, I'd definitely be interested in going tomorrow night. I'm taking the day off today to try and ingest what we did yesterday so will be def ready to go tomorrow for a Karl class.

In general Monday evenings are good for me to go to  Karl's class-- although not sure about tomorrow yet.

I also go to Wed 6pm classes each week with Anne Saliou (Iyengar style). She's terrific if you're looking for another regular class to check out.  Very precise and therapeutic.

looking forward to next weekend and continued immersion.  I felt some detox from that deep work we did this Saturday...

Hey folks,

Sunday I didn't make it, I had work to do at my house and needed to not avoid it.

However, I definitely do want to go to Yoga to the People soon.  Maybe we can discuss it Saturday.

As for Mr Erb's class, I am going to opt for Jason Crandell.  Maybe we can get some tea for 5 minutes and see about forming an informal discussion group on the Material we are covering for the next Saturday.

Do you think that sounds feasible?  It was just a thought.

Thanks,

Brian

Hi Brian and all,
I like the idea of doing an informal group to discuss the material for next week. And the other teachers people mentioned sound good. I'll still be at Karls class Monday. When is Jason Crandall's class? At this point I don't have a strong home practice and do most of my yoga elsewhere and I'd like to check out as many teachers and studios until I find one that really resonates with me. Thanks for all of the suggestions.

Hi,
I think I'll end up making it to Karl's class tonight, if anyone else is interested.
Hope you're having a good day.
