I have tried 2 different hubs without any luck. so I decided to regress back to a notebook computer
ive connected them to a notebook computer and found the problem
the miniVNA cannot be seen at all thru 2 different powered hubs on a notebook computer.
it cant locate com port 3 as the usb connection to establish communications thru the powered hub?
regards

a further update
I'm home now on my fixed desktop computer with a powered usb hub and if i connect the VNA standard into the hub it will not see the VNA at all.
If I connect direct to the the computer usb port it works fine?
now I'm thinking something in the VNA standard won't allow connection thru a hub?

Regards

whenever i add the VNA to any "new" computer with a usb hub it automatically loads a serial to usb driver (windows) when connected  to a usb hub that the VNA is requesting

Each time you connect an USB to serial device to a new USB port the driver will be loaded again.

Dan:
you: "Each time you connect an USB to serial device to a new USB port the driver will be loaded again." (in windows)

me: So when i connect my VNA to the samsung tab using android, where does the serial to usb driver take place and get recognized?
does your software load serial to usb driver for the android app, so the VNA can be seen? If not how can android possibly see my serial device ?

Thanks

Is not like on a Windows computer. Each time you connect the USN/serial
device to Android, based on VID:PID the system knows which application
can use that specific device and ask yu to start one of them. After that
you have the option to automatically start a specific app when the
device is connected (for example if is only one).
