Digital Strategist

POSITION: Digital Strategist (Manager level)
REPORTS TO: Communications Director as primary supervisor, with Organizing & Advocacy Director as secondary supervisor
POSITION TYPE: Full-time
START DATE: September 2024
LOCATION: Remote, US based
COMPENSATION: $76,000 or higher, depending on years of relevant experience. USCPR staff have a transparent salary ladder based on years of relevant experience. For example, 7 years of experience for this position would be around $82,000; 10 years around $85,000.

 

SUMMARY

The US Campaign for Palestinian Rights (USCPR) and USCPR Action are hiring a full-time Digital Strategist to join our close-knit team of passionate individuals dedicated to advancing Palestinian liberation at the intersection of grassroots organizing, policy change, and popular education. 

 

The Digital Strategist will lead USCPR’s programs to drive online and offline action, including but not limited to our email, SMS, and digital advertising programs, alongside our suite of online advocacy tools housed in EveryAction. The role also includes writing emotionally resonant and accessible content, developing and updating action resources, and maintaining USCPR and USCPR Action’s website with the latest information.

 

The ideal candidate has strong digital organizing experience, including action tool optimization, email and SMS strategy, and social media advertising strategy. You are creative, well-organized, analytical, a sharp digital strategist, an excellent writer, passionate about justice, well-informed about the Palestinian struggle for freedom (and ideally its connections with other justice movements), and self-starting. You also bring a strong background in data-driven decision making. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

This is a full-time remote position, based in the US. Benefits include paid time off, health and dental insurance, life and disability insurance, a retirement plan with matching employer contributions, and more.

  • Write, design, and optimize online action tools to increase conversions. Determine action tool targets and demands with guidance from the Programs team. Continuously update action tools, relevant toolkits, and the website to reflect the latest news and demands.
  • Implement a ladder of engagement for digital supporters to take action, including through action tools, webinars, phone zaps, local organizing and protesting, and in-person events.
  • Lead on email and SMS acquisition and optimization. Implement email and SMS strategies to build our lists, inform and engage supporters, and ensure regular communication. Test and analyze results on a weekly basis.
  • Run and optimize digital ads to increase acquisition and drive action conversions, including Facebook, Instagram, and Google search ads.
  • Collaborate with the Communications Associate on creative, organic social media strategies to increase traffic and conversions for action tools. Provide direction, such as video talking points, and measure results.
  • Manage the USCPR website, USCPR Action website, and Not My Tax Dollars microsite to ensure that resources are up-to-date. Update the USCPR protests page daily. Add email blasts, press releases, policy memos, and other content as posts to the website. Build new SquareSpace websites when needed.
  • Manage USCPR & USCPR Action ActionNetwork accounts and bulk upload new subscribers into EveryAction.
  • Build and manage online webinars and events, including creating registration pages and optimizing signups.
  • Write emails such as the biweekly Activist Scoop email.
  • Load and send out email and SMS blasts through EveryAction.
  • Evaluate and optimize the email welcome series and the SMS welcome series.
  • Produce monthly email, SMS, website, and social media analytics reports for monitoring and evaluation, and track results on a weekly basis.
  • Collaborating and strategizing closely with the USCPR Communications and Programs teams.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 4+ years of digital organizing and strategy experience; with a demonstrated understanding of how to drive people to take action through online communication
  • Demonstrably excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Digital organizing skills and social media fluency; you don’t have to know the latest trends on TikTok, or every app and tool in the progressive ecosystem, but you should know how these tools work, have experience with some, and be willing and eager to learn which are most applicable to building power in our movement 
  • In-person activism and organizing experience
  • Data analysis, spreadsheet development and maintenance, and a willingness to learn more advanced google sheet formulas, etc 
  • Basic graphic design skills and familiarity with tools like Canva or Photoshop 
  • Working knowledge of website tools like WordPress & SquareSpace
  • Social media ads
  • Google search ads
  • Familiarity with organizing CRMs like EveryAction and ActionNetwork
  • Well-versed in the movement for Palestinian liberation
  • Arabic language skills a plus
