Hello All,

Cal Performances, the performing arts presenter at UC Berkeley, is seeking a Director of Education, Campus and Community Programs. This position reports to the Executive and Artistic Director and plays a leadership role to develop and implement a vision for the education and campus programming for Cal Performances, including - in close collaboration with the Artistic Director and Director of Artistic Planning - the organization’s Illuminations work, which blends performing arts with on-campus knowledge and research.

In the 2021-2022 season, Cal Performances’ Education programs will be reframed under the umbrella of its thematic Illuminations programming.  Continuing its commitment to learners of all ages, Cal Performances will use its unique position as a world-class presenting organization on the campus of a premiere public research institution to create programs that link the arts to campus knowledge to create a more holistic and empathetic understanding of the world.

The Director of Education and Campus Programs is the individual primarily responsible for the implementation and execution and refinement of the Illuminations Public Forum and Digital Lecture Series (theme-based programs that bring together campus experts from across disciplines to frame one vital theme from many angles over the course of the year, in conversation with specific on-stage programming); the Artist-in-Residence program (a world-class artist with a recurring relationship to the university who - over the course of their Residency - instigates an ongoing on-campus collaboration between arts and non-arts departments); and other supporting events.

The successful candidate will be one who is rooted in the performing arts but has a deep curiosity and experience in interdisciplinary work, connecting the performing arts with research, knowledge, and civic engagement.
