If you are in a job search or considering making a career move, come to the December 3 Networking Party. The theme is “Straight Talk about Career Paths.” Join us if you are looking for a job or trying to figure out your next move. Join us if you want to get a reality check about how people make transitions and survive dips and gaps in employment. Join us if you want to have a lively evening of great conversation.

Guaranteed you will learn things about how people make career choices and how they survive losses and change.

Did you know that only one in five college graduates has a clear vision of what they want to do for a career? Did you know that nearly 80 percent of adults do not know what they are passionate about? A growing percentage of adults have multiple careers each one quite different from the other. There’s a name for people who know they are suited for more than one career: multi-potentialist!

Having one career, or a linear career path, is the exception to the rule.

If you had any doubt about having a smooth, linear career path, add ingredients like a pandemic, an economic downturn, or a family (kids or aging parents), and you are likely to find meanders and dead-ends and detours and forks in the road.

Talking to people is the best way to work on your job search. Come to the December 3 networking event and find out how others made career choices and navigated turns and downturns.

December 3, 6:30- 8 pm, Best Networking Party: Straight Talk about Career Paths, FREE!

And if INTERVIEWING is on your skill building list or calendar, come to the workshop on December 9. The focus is on telling stories that are short, focused and memorable. You have about 90 seconds to tell an interview story. In this session, you will learn techniques for a strong opening and closing line and tight content in between. If you tend to ramble or pack stories into stories, join us! You will get great instruction, feedback and support from an intimate group. Ten people maximum!

December 9, 4-5:30 pm, Interview Skills: How to tell Short, Strong Stories, $25

These events are hosted by career coach Laura Paradise. Laura is a former nonprofit fundraiser and environmental lobbyist whose networking skills supported her during gaps in employment. She wants to pay it back by introducing great people to one another. Https://lauraparadisecoaching.com
