Development & Donor Services Assistant

Thanks to generous donors, the Conservancy has provided grants to the park to restore trails and habitat, protect wildlife, provide educational programs, and more. Yosemite Conservancy seeks an experienced Development & Donor Services Assistant as a member to our development team.  You would be the front-line customer service representative and provide administrative support for the San Francisco office.  We are passionate about Yosemite National Park so we work hard and have fun here!  And sharing a mouth-watering s’mores recipe wouldn’t hurt either!

 

Responsibilities:

 

Donor Assistance

  • Acts as the front-line customer service representative for the Conservancy
  • Communicates/responds to donor phone, email and mail correspondence with donations, monthly donor payment updates; responds to donor questions; processes payments
  • Records accurate contact donor information, notes, payments, and preferences in Raiser’s Edge
  • Serves as the monthly donor concierge; updates credit card information; confirms monthly giving levels; manages recurring gift amount and payments; updates donor data
  • Drafts, proofs and prints in-house acknowledgement letters requiring special handling regarding gifts made in honor of or in memory of
  • Responds to non-donor requests for inclusion/exclusion on applicable acquisition mailings; updates

Development Operations Support

  • Supports the Director of Development; provides assistance with corporate credit card organization and coding, meeting scheduling, and agenda preparation
  • Supports the Events Manager in executing events: nametags, taking RSVPs, addressing and mailing invitations, assembling event packets, etc.
  • Supports the Events Manager in solicitating raffle items for the Spring Gathering raffle; coordinates all elements of the raffle
  • Manages several donor stewardship projects; works with the development team and a designer to bring the projects to completion
  • Manages the work of volunteers in the San Francisco office

 

Office Administration

  • Manages incoming mail/deliveries; picks up, opens and distributes mail and packages
  • Coordinates out-going mail; takes mail and packages to the post office; packs up and ships supplies/materials for development staff
  • Orders supplies for the San Francisco office
  • Coordinates with IT and office equipment vendors to troubleshoot office machines; interfaces with building management
  • Collaborates with the staff to ensure the kitchen area remains clean; waters the plants
  • Coordinates occasional San Francisco office celebrations and Development-only activities

 

Qualifications:

  • Commitment to the mission, values, goals, and success of Yosemite Conservancy
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, but not required
  • One or more years of customer service experience strongly preferred
  • Experience with Raiser’s Edge preferred
  • Good communication skills with the ability to communicate with an engaging style
  • Experience communicating with donors, customers or clients preferred
  • Ability to work with donor information and records with accuracy and confidentiality
  • Strong computer and typing skills including knowledge of Microsoft Word
  • Ability to exercise good judgment, think critically and make independent decisions
  • Attention to detail and deadlines, well-organized, and ability to multi-task
  • Commitment to conservation and outdoor interests preferred
  • Knowledge of and interest in Yosemite National Park or other public lands
  • Cultural competency knowledge and ability to interact effectively with people across cultures, ethnic groups, and identities

 

Work Environment:

  • This position is located in San Francisco with infrequent business travel to Yosemite National Park
  • Regularly sits at desk or computer workstation
  • Frequently moves about the office to collaborate with colleagues
  • Able to lift up to 30 pounds when necessary
  • Infrequent weekend and evening work
  • Required to work regular business days from December 26 to December 31
