Position Summary:

LEE seeks a Coordinator, General Ledger/Grants Accountant to assist with monthly general ledger accounting, grant management, and expense processing.

This integral member of the finance team will report to the Senior Director of Finance and work closely with the Senior Director of Budgeting, Planning and Analysis. The Coordinator will be responsible for assisting with the various components of our monthly financial cycle, including AMEX and expense processing, auditing staff expense transactions for compliance, grant management, and expense analysis.


This role requires the ability to work independently and as part of a larger team. The candidate should be highly organized and possess a strong attention to detail. The candidate should have a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance with experience in grant management and a financial software package, preferably the Financial Edge.


Qualified candidates for this position will have demonstrated strong analytical and written communication skills. Additional requirements include experience with internal auditing, advanced excel skills, and previous accounting experience in a 501c3 and/or 501c4 organization.


Travel Requirements: 5-10%


Responsibilities:

  • General ledger accounting, including the booking of journal entries, AMEX expense report reconciliation, imports and backup for payable processing through Concur and manual checks through Financial Edge
  • Auditing, including the preparation of Income Statement and Balance Sheet account audit schedules
  • Audit adherence to finance policies and coding of transactions to proper grant codes, project codes, etc.
  • Manage the grant process from creation of budget to final financial report to donor
    • Including providing monthly status reports to track grants progress
  • Assist in budgeting & forecasting process
  • Analysis of expense variances
  • Creation of financial reports via Microsoft Excel to management 
 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting and/or finance
  • 3 years of work experience in payables; experience with internal auditing and audit cycles; 1 year of grant management experience; experience with financial management
  • Experience in accounting at a  501c3 and/or 501c4 organization
  • Advanced Excel skills including Pivot Tables, VLookup and managing large groups of data
  • Highly organized with a strong attention to detail
  • Ability to understand the work of the different components of the Finance Team
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision in a dispersed workforce/virtual environment
  • Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong project management skills and ability to work independently and function effectively in a team environment
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality when working with sensitive information and materials
  • Experience with financial accounting package, system, or software processing payables and booking general ledger journal entries

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Concur and Financial Edge
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
  • Experience in providing excellent client service in a high-volume work environment
  • Entrepreneurial and ability to easily adapt to innovations and changes in policies and procedures
