KIPP is a non-profit network of 224 college-preparatory, public charter schools across the country educating early childhood, elementary, middle, and high school students. KIPP schools are united by a common mission, a commitment to excellence, and a belief that if we help children develop the academic and character strengths they need for college and choice-filled lives, they will be able to build a better tomorrow for themselves, for their communities, and for us all.
There are currently 15 KIPP schools across the Bay Area educating nearly 6,000 students in East Palo Alto, Oakland, San Francisco, San Lorenzo, San Jose, and Redwood City and supporting over 3,000 alumni around the country.
Position Overview
The Director of People Initiatives will ensure KIPP Bay Area Public Schools has the human capital engine to grow new schools and sustain the high-quality teaching, learning, and leadership of our existing schools. Reporting to the Chief People Officer, they will partner directly with the Chief of Schools and regional departments to build and implement a regional strategy for progress monitoring leadership development and scaling of our teacher residency program. The ideal candidate for this critical role thrives on solving problems, navigating ambiguity, developing systems and finding ways to work smarter - not just harder. The Director is someone with a strong track record of successfully launching and managing complex projects, leading outcomes-based planning with cross-functional teams, and building transformative relationships with diverse group stakeholders in a mission-driven organization.
This position is based out of our Regional Support Office (RSO) in downtown Oakland (BART accessible) with frequent travel to our schools and local communities throughout the Bay Area. This full-time exempt position is available immediately.
