About Movement Labs
Movement Labs offers interns and fellows the opportunity to gain skills and knowledge across various activities in progressive political power building.
Movement Labs is an incubator for missing pieces of political infrastructure. In addition, Movement Labs provides mass texting services to organizations building power, sending millions of texts annually. Movement Labs is looking to hire up to 30 interns and 5 fellows.
Internship:
Movement Labs is seeking interns for our Fall Semester (August 15, 2022 - December 16 2022) to help implement our text bank campaigns and provide support for special projects. Interns for Movement Labs will work remotely and will receive a $1000 stipend per semester for a minimum of 10-15 hours per week.
Fellowship:
Those with an undergraduate degree, those pursuing a graduate degree, and interns that are continuing for a second semester with Movement Labs will be eligible to join our Fellowship program. They will be cross-trained extensively across our organization’s full range of activities and have increased responsibilities. Fellows will receive a $750 a month stipend for 20-25 hours of work per week.
Requirements
Demonstrated detail-orientation
Ability to create your own schedule, work independently and regularly communicate status updates
Excellent organizational skills
Systematic in your approach to projects
Online research skills
Competence in Excel/GoogleDocs
Demonstrated interest in peer-to-peer texting programs and digital organizing tools
Remote work experience helpful
Departments
The internship and fellowships are department-specific. Please read through the following departments and list in your application which you would be interested in working in:
Operations - The operations team builds the SMS campaigns that Movement Labs runs. Interns on this team will support their essential technical work and interact with and manage volunteers.
Business Development and Marketing - The team manages outreach and partner relations for Movement Labs. Interns will work directly with staff to research prospective clients, manage reporting, and assist with marketing efforts.
Data and technology - Interns on the data team will have the opportunity to grow their skills in data management and coding. Knowledge and some experience with SQL and Python is helpful.
Black Led Organizations - Interns will assist the team with identifying and connecting groups with our programs that would help amplify their current body of work
Contest Every Race - CER interns focus on essential local political research for candidate recruitment of everyday voters.
Advocacy - The advocacy team focuses on legislative research, and advocacy organization research to support the work of small grassroots organizations. Interns will be asked to provide ideas and feedback about advocacy opportunities and do research to identify them.
Rural Power Labs - This program connects with rural grassroots group leaders, Interns will assist with organizing calls for partnerships and outreach to rural leaders.
Interns will receive a $1000 stipend per semester for a minimum of 10-15 hours per week.
