Position Summary
The Manager, Communications will report to the Director, Digital Communications and will drive the day-to-day execution of LEE’s social media strategy. The Manager, Communications will also lead LEE’s member stories initiative and develop original content for our website as well as internal branding and messaging procedures. Qualified candidates for this position will have a proven experience writing for a variety of audiences on multiple platforms and the ability to write, copy-edit, and proof-read in a rapid response environment. Additionally, they will be able to demonstrate cultural competency with a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion throughout internal and external communications. This is a temporary position with the possibility of permanent placement.
Positon Location: Flexible; Washington, DC preferred
Travel Requirements: 5%
Responsibilities
- Drive the hands-on, day-to-day strategy and execution of social media channels, including curating and drafting of content
- Lead development of content calendar and work to ensure program content and social content are aligned, tracked, and monitored to meet team and organizational goals
- Manage Facebook Ads Account for organization including the development of ad copy, management of campaign budgets, and data reporting
- Track and interpret performance metrics for digital campaigns and properties to measure effectiveness
- Compile social media conversation monitoring and content performance reports
- Research and stay up-to-date on current digital/social tools and trends
- Lead #LEEMemberMonday initiative by drafting stories, serving as main liaison to other LEE teams, conducting member outreach in addition to tracking and measuring success
- Lead internal branding and messaging procedures, including but not limited to: monitoring LEE properties for consistent language, ensuring content fits within LEE values – specifically as it relates to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and that best practices are followed throughout the organization
- Develop original website content including member stories and program recaps for the LEE blog and team pages including regular management and updates
- Manage LEE volunteers content development and execution
- Maintain/update the communication team’s editorial calendar, which includes social media, web content, emails, and other digital content
- Lead implementation of member engagement tactics when it comes to social media and website content
- Compile data and analysis for member engagement projects
- Develop recruitment content as needed
- Support program outreach as needed
- Build LEE’s reputation by securing positive member stories in the media
- Manage media monitoring software, track mentions and trends
- Communications support for special projects as needed (coordinating branded collateral, writing/updating engagement collateral based on key learnings, updating protocols/best practices)
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- Minimum of 3-5 years of work experience in public relations, marketing, communications, media, journalism, technology or similar field
- Proven experience writing for a variety of audiences on social media platforms as well as in web format and ability to write, copy-edit and proof-read in a rapid response environment
- A mastery of social media tools and platforms; proficient in the tactical use of Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and YouTubeSuperior written and verbal communication and presentation skills
- Background in journalism or related field with a passion for storytelling, and especially working with diverse and underprivileged communities
- Demonstrate cultural competency with a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion throughout internal and external communications
- Ability to understand and leverage data to influence digital and marketing activity
- Ability to set and consistently meet deadlines and commitments
- Thrives in fast-paced entrepreneurial environment
- Positive attitude with team-minded mentality
- Brings high level of integrity, quality and entrepreneurial spirit to the work
- Comfort using virtual means of communication to collaborate in a geographically dispersed organization
Preferred Qualifications
- Graphic design and visual branding experience
- Strong knowledge of HTML/CSS
- Strong knowledge of Facebook Ads platform and paid social media promotion
- Experience developing talking points, press materials, and pitching media
- Experience with email marketing platforms, event platforms and databases (e.g., Pardot, Salesforce and Eventbrite)
- Experience with analytics tools including Google Analytics as well as internal reporting tools
Benefits and Salary
Hourly pay for this position is competitive and based on prior experience.
