Position Summary
The Talent, Learning, Culture (TLC) team drives and sustains the impact of LEE as an employer of choice through acquiring, engaging, and developing high quality, high potential, future-oriented, diverse talent. This team is responsible for talent recruitment, selection and onboarding, staff performance management and professional development, and building an organization-wide culture based on our core values, talent and mission.

Reporting to the Senior Director, Talent Acquisition and Strategy, the Manager, Human Resources supports the central human resources function of LEE by ensuring effective, efficient, and compliant systems and processes in four domains: 1) Payroll Administration, 2) Benefits and Total Rewards Administration, 3) Administrative Onboarding and Exiting, and 4) Talent Acquisition Support.

The Manager, Human Resources will be an entrepreneurial, collegial, and resourceful team member who is deeply aligned with our core values and our mission to end educational inequity.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (equivalent years of human resources experience in this field may be substituted)
  • Minimum of 2 years experience managing payroll and benefits for a company or organization with at least 100 employees
  • Previous experience working with ADP (or a similar platform) and an associated human resources information system
  • Ability to calculate payroll and benefits deductions, etc. with efficiency and accuracy
  • Enthusiasm for planning and managing multiple projects and tasks
  • Strong customer service orientation when supporting staff, interacting with colleagues and partner teams, and interfacing with external vendors
  • Sharp attention to detail in composing, typing and proofing materials, establishing priorities and meeting deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • High commitment to seeking swift resolution to issues that are both people and process focused
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint
  • Experience maintaining a high level of confidentiality and professionalism

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification
  • Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) or Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) - certification will be required within 6 months of hire
  • Previous experience working with Cornerstone or other applicant tracking system
  • Previous experience interviewing candidates for a variety of positions
  • Previous experience working with DocuSign or other electronic signature and workflow management tool preferred
