I don't think the newsletter is an appropriate forum for this, do you guys? I think we can definitely invite people to contribute articles, but not self-promotion.

I would respond saying we do not do self promotions unfortunately.

I'm not sure if the article is separate from the book release, so I think it's a little premature to label it as self-promotion.  Although I do agree with Linda that just straight out self promotion is inappropriate for our newsletter.

Nevertheless, we're not obligated to publish all of the articles we receive, so I think the urgent matter is a format to receive the articles.

Just tell her to submit a Word document with the date, her full name, her professional position (ie primary care physician in New York), and the article. And to send her headshot in separately as a jpg or gif.

I would tell her to submit within next three to four weeks.

Well done Seung,
Great job you are doing amidst all the responsibilities.
Please sisters, let us be careful with our choice of words during our public discussions. As Seung rightly opined, I think it is premature to label this 'article' self promotion.
It will be nice to ask the Doctor concerned to send the article in the agreed format, then we'll take it up from there.
God bless us all.

Thank you, Seungyon

1. The day of releasing yMWIA newsletter : Pam, could  give us draft estimated date or period?

2. The appropriateness  of article :  Editor and yMWIA executives will decide.

If necessary, we can add 'disclosure' like this "The views expressed in this article represent the opinions of the authors and not necessarily the opinion of the yMWIA"

Sincerely,

Deborah

Hi ladies,
In this case we have some history: yvonne

is a ver
y
active contributing member, yet sometimes quite persistent with her wishes, and
also
often hasn't
 oblige
d
to our formating rules
on the first submission
.
We have previously had the same problem about a book chapter and decided not to publish more than a note saying that one of our members has published, and she shared a link from which th e chapter could be accessed for free. In the case of an economic interest we decided not to publish this
but encouraged her to publish an announcement herself in our facebook group. we found this a reasonable compromise.
Since Pam is the editor and has done wonderful work in the last years, I encourage you to lean back and let her handle this kind of issues- she has always decided very sensibly and I have a lot of trust in her abilities. If something comes up that needs discussion we can still express our opinions.

sincerely,
Charlotte

Thanks everyone. Charlotte has summed this very well.
Yvonne is our most active writer and has submitted book reviews etc in the past.

If you receive newsletter queries - I'm happy to respond so that it's consistent.

I was expecting that we would have a team meeting and establish the deadlines
for the newsletter then. However, given the time since the annual meeting,
I have set up a meeting with Charlotte to get things started.

Thanks everyone,

Best,

Pam
