About the Instructor

Professor Fook-Hou Lee has been a faculty member at the National University of Singapore (NUS) since 1986. Prof Lee is a Fellow of the Singapore Academy of Engineering. He is also a registered Professional Engineer (Civil) as well as Professional Engineer (Geotechnical Specialist).    Currently he also holds the position of Distinguished Visiting Professor at the Civil Engineering Department, IIT Roorkee.   Prof Lee developed and commissioned the NUS Geotechnical Centrifuge, which is the only geotechnical centrifuge in Southeast Asia. In the area of geotechnics, he has a strong interest in soil improvement, especially in the modelling of soil improvement processes and the characterization of improved soil behaviour, as well as underground construction in urban areas.   Prof Lee has published about 100 papers in international peer-reviewed journals. He has, to date, supervised and graduated more than 40 PhD students and Master of Engineering students.
