Ijust developed my first program in C++ and I wanted to share it with one of my friends.
But when he tries to open the exe it gets an error which says "MSVCP140.dll is missing". Why is this issue happening and how can we fix it?
That usually means that your friend does not have the Microsoft redistributable for Visual C++. I am of course assuming you are using VC++ and not MingW or another compiler. Since your friend does not have VS installed as well there is no guarantee he has the redist installed.
okay so im trying to install origin and the sims4 for my mom on this Dell inspiron 15 that shes had for years. i completely factory reset it and now that ive tried to install it gives me this message "MSVCP140.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling to fix the problem."
ive tried reinstalling, then going in as an admin and enabling it and nothing.
ive tried uninstalling the entire graphics pack and redoing it and nothing.
ive even tried scaning as an admin.
im like a 2/10 when it comes to knowing what im doing with computers, so this is all from research on different forums and i still cant get anything to work. this is day 5 and i leave for college next week and i was hoping to have this done by then. can someone please help me.
Hoping someone can help! I'm experiencing a similar issue when I try to run Adobe Captivate 2019 on my new laptop. It worked on my older laptop, but for some reason there's a problem on the new one (see screenshot of error message I get). I have installed the redist x64 and x84, reinstalled Captivate and restarted and still having issues. Any ideas?
this is also something i have tried, and its just not registering.
after going into my control panel i saw that i have 10 different C++ runtime programs installed but again i have very little experience with computers so i didnt know if uninstaling them all and starting fresh would screw it up or not.
ive tried about everything on this page
-to-fix-msvcp140-dll-is-missing-error-on-windows/
Thank you for making that clear, i installed the 64x one and still had the issue i will try again.
I have downloaded the 86x, its working now. thanks the most for making it clear.
Bruh now its saying i have something else not installed
I had the same problem trying to install an EA game (Unravel) on Steam. I installed both versions x86 and x64 and after that the Origin app installed flawlessly and I could continue with installing the game.
Thank you for this solution.
This. I have had the same problem as Breelee and it always was
missing that DLL but msvcruntime msvcruntime140.dll).
I did not know that you needed to have both 32 bits and 64 bits
installed. And now I think of it it has sense; most applications are
structured for 32 bits.
Many people are receiving the following error after tonight's maintenance.
When launching the game: The program can't start because MSVCP140.dll is missing from your computer.
All google resolutions, re-installing the game / full file scan / re-install launcher / reinstall visual c++ did not fix the issue. any suggestions?
Still want to know what the developers are fn with to corrupt that install......
If it would have been just me.. i'd say something with my pc... but literally at least 1 pc was affected by a dozen of my friends
Microsoft Visual C+ somehow got corrupted, on My main Computer Intel i7-6700... could only log my support/shop computer(mid level AMD APU). When I gave up, and re-installed on my Main Computer... I tried to update Lineage on my Media computer, an Intel Core 2 Quad Q9400... I haven't played any characters for some time, but I got the same error after updating.
I had to re-install Visual C++ on both of my computers... an Intel i7-4600 Tower and an Intel i5-6200U Laptop. I seem to recall when trying to upgrade other peoples Computer Hardware to support Win7/8/10... That Intel CPUs used to insert an orphaned Registry entry(which made it almost impossible to update the OS, and keep all your programs if you changed to an AMD CPU) maybe that orphaned Registry entry just happened to corrupt the Visual C++ on Intel Computers?
I don't think that Registry entry exists anymore... around 2016/2017 Microsoft removed a whole lot of Hardware support from Windows 10. for example: In 2015 you could install Win 10 on Computers with only AGP video, and you could re-install the version from 2015 after that... but could not update that computer to any update after AGP was removed. I think I have moved Intel Win 10 Hard Drives to AMD Computers without issues for at least 4-5 years.
Maybe not that Registry entry... but prolly something to do with Intel CPU/Graphics, or configuration of Graphics priority(unless the option is discrete... like my Laptop) Everything was fine before maintenance.
NCsoft prolly had nothing to do with the corruption of Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 installation... the fix is to re-install the x86 version, from a Microsoft link like this: -gb/download/details.aspx?id=48145 because Lineage 2 is still an x86 program(our Unreal Engine does not actually support 64bit operation)
Indeed the memory limitations of 32bit causes some of the problems people experience when a client is running for "too long" and has been around the game world map.
What I find amusing is that out of four machines only one of them experienced this issue.
Anyone else have to reload a post multiple times before the forum finally allows your text to be posted?

Along with Adobe Acrobat and Office 365, Origin stopped working about a week ago, having been working perfectly just a few hours earlier. Everything was up to date - but that might have been the problem, since some of the updates were very new.
Anyway, after a great deal of hassle, managed to reinstall Office 365 (at about the twentieth attempt). Acrobat and Origin - newly installed - continue to bleat that their exe file can't be found - even though it's actually sitting in the appropriate folder, newly installed!
Latest attempt at Origin produced a second error message: MSVCP140.dll missing. Well, if anything is missing it is because ORIGIN has failed to install it (and I've installed, deinstalled, reinstalled, scanned and all the rest).
Either HELP - or tell me how I can get back all the money I've spent on Sims 4 which I can no longer play. (Actually, I realise I'm probably addressing fellow Origin-sufferers - but you know what I mean!)
I am having the same issue I had it on my old laptop now I have a new one with more ram and all and this one has windows 10 on it. and I was all excited that I was going to be able to play sims4 on my new laptop I just got for my birthday. NOPE! I am so upset I have done all the updates other people have said to do and redownloaded a million times and still nothing. fix this problem please or is there a number I can call these people????
I have recently downloaded and installed AutoCAD, upon trying to open the software I was greeted with four error messages. they said that MSVCP140.dll is missing (this displayed twice in two separate windows) and the other was mfc140u.dll is missing (this also displayed twice in two separate windows). would anybody be able to tell me what I have to do to solve my issue, I have looked on the internet and I cant find how to solve it. Any help would be much appreciated,
Thank you for helping me, but after trying the solution which you have said I am now encountering another error message. this one is a (0xc000007b). error message, it tells me this and then say click ok to close program. I have again looked on the internet for the solution and tried different ideas, no luck. Any ideas?
I know as a newbie that I'm too late here to reply as it is solved. But I would like to share some information with you regarding the missing files. Both files are files from a group of .dll files that one can come across. The cause behind the error might be either the removal of a file or the file is corrupted in nature. To fix mfc140u.dll file there are various approaches as it varies from one version to another. If you did like to fix it just need to install updated Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Service Pack, but you need to make sure the version for which you need. Sometimes reinstalling the file might help you. Anyone here might have a problem in future then try fixing mfc140u.dll as directed in the post.
