A Moja Kwa Moja Stone serves as a path to a landmark to get to the Tree of Life. To show the path to the correct landmark, it must be activated with Makini's staff; otherwise, it cannot be told if it's a Moja Kwa Moja Stone or not. Painted stones that do not have a Tree of Life icon on it are not Moja Kwa Moja Stones.
In "Battle for the Pride Lands", Kion and Ono receive injuries during the final battle against Scar. As Rafiki finds out that there is no cure for Kion in the Pride Lands, he tells the Pridelanders that the only place for them to be healed is to get to the Tree of Life, which is far away from the Pride Lands by following the Moja Kwa Moja Stones. The Lion Guard then leaves the Pride Lands and plan to follow the Moja Kwa Moja Stones to get to the Tree.
During their journey, the group stumbles upon Makucha's territory in the Backlands during the events of "The Harmattan" where it is shown that Kion's team has already left the Pride Lands to get to the Tree. Throughout their journey, Anga helps Kion find a Moja Kwa Moja Stone with a painting of a waterfall on it which leads to the Tree of Life. Ono then explains that according to Rafiki's map, the first landmark after Pride Rock is the Backlands' waterfall. Ono then explains that the next landmark after the Backlands' waterfall is an iroko tree. When the Guard survives a very harsh harmattan far away, they find another Moja Kwa Moja Stone at the iroko tree to which according to Ono, the next landmark after the iroko tree is a mountain with two peaks.
In "The Accidental Avalanche" when the snow monkeys find a new hot springs to bathe in thanks to the Guard's help, Anga finds Tuliza for Kion and another Moja Kwa Moja Stone just around the slope before Kimyo and Nabasu play with Anga in the hot springs.
In "Ghost of the Mountain" after saving the red pandas threatened by Chuluun, the Guard finds another Moja Kwa Moja stone in the bamboo forest the whole time. To which according to Ono, the next landmark leads from the bamboo forest and around a big mountain. As Kion's team follows the path to the landmark marked by the stone, the red pandas bid a farewell to them.
In "Dragon Island", Anga, Ono, and Makini find another Moja Kwa Moja Stone by a few rocks far away from Kion to which the next landmark on the stone leads from the island to a cliff with a tree on it. Anga then sees the landmark on the Moja Kwa Moja Stone as she also notices Ora and the Komodo dragons preparing to eat Lumba-Lumba and the Lion Guard. Fortunately, the three manage to help Kion, Fuli, and Bunga take care of Ora and his followers and bring Lumba-Lumba back to the ocean. On their way to following the path marked by the Moja Kwa Moja Stone, Beshte bids a farewell to Lumba-Lumba as the dolphin also bids him a farewell.
In "Journey of Memories", three Moja Kwa Moja Stones are seen. The first Moja Kwa Moja Stone leads from a big river to a pool with rocks around it, the second one leads from the pool with rocks around it to a field of white flowers (actually stars), and the third one with the white flowers painting is seen on a cliff.
In "The Tree of Life", the last Moja Kwa Moja Stone leads from the mountain pass to the Tree of Life. However, the stone is not activated after Makini lost her staff in a giant lake. Fortunately, the group entered the Tree of Life area even if the last stone was not activated.
In "Journey to the Pride Lands" due to Jasiri's worry about the banished Outsider lioness Zira who is planning to take over the Pride Lands in revenge causing Kion and his friends to leave the Tree of Life and go back to the Pride Lands, Kion asks Ono to know all the moja kwa moja stones on Rafiki's map to which he explains that the first landmark back to the Pride Lands is from the Tree of Life to a giant lake at the mountain pass. Kion's team (this time with Azaad, Jasiri, and Janja) continues to use the same paths marked by the Moja Kwa Moja Stones to return back to the Pride Lands. However, it turns out that in the following episode that Zira has completed her journey through the Circle of Life.

The Mojas are the main antagonistic species of the LocoRoco series. They're aliens from a far-away planet that came to Earth to eat all of it's living things, most notably the LocoRocos themselves.
The main species of Moja are the Moja themselves. They appear to be floating black heads that have orange lips, a singular pointed tooth on either side of their bottom lip, and eight large black tentacles sticking out of the sides of their head. They appear in every LocoRoco game and are the most common enemy. In the first LocoRoco game, they typically appear at the ends of the levels. They are most commonly encountered in Dolangomeri area, being encountered multiple times. They are also commonly seen near bosses (such as Bonmucho) and mini-bosses (such as Ojajas). Moja's will travel towards and eat any LocoRoco that get too close.
Kojas are the smallest species of Moja. They appear to be very tiny Mojas with nubs instead of tentacles. They always appear in large numbers, floating in one space without moving. Once a LocoRoco gets into contact with one of these, they will cling to them and pull them down, making it hard for the LocoRoco to jump in the air. They will die if the LocoRoco they are attached to jumps into a body of liquid.
Ojas are the first large Moja species encountered in the LocoRoco series. They appear to be larger versions of regular Mojas with blue eyes. They serve as mini-bosses at the end of the Dolangomeri areas. The LocoRoco must knock them onto the ground, and while they are dazed they have to bounce on their head. This will cause them to shrink in size. After three hits, they are defeated. In the first LocoRoco game, a reward sealed on the roof of a chunk of rock will open up upon his defeat. They have a lesser role in the second game, but are seen singing with Majolin to help her build her Moja muck bomb. They are also seen being fought at the end of the BuiBui Fort.
Ojajas are the biggest species of Moja minions, and serve as some of the harder mini-bosses in the game. They are very large Mojas with very long tentacles and red eyes. In the first game only one makes an appearance, being the final enemy the LocoRoco has to fight inside of Bonmucho's body. He does not need to be defeated in order to beat Bonmucho. In the second game, two of them appear at the end of the Dolangomeri area. His method is very similar to that of the Oja, becoming smaller once jumped upon.
The Mojallah are the first new species of Moja introduced in LocoRoco 2. They appear to have a standard head, a bumpy circular head, and a tail hanging below them with a pointed tip tied with a red band. They first appear at the end of the first Dolangomeri level, being summoned out of Bonmucho's body. They later appear in various later levels among normal Mojas. A mob of them is seen being sent to attack the LocoRoco by Majolin alongside an Ojallah. Their method of defeat is being knocked into a daze and then being swung by their tail. After they snap out of it and knock off the LocoRoco the LocoRoco can then slam them to the ground. Their tail is seen braking off of them and fading away upon defeat, or they can giggle the tail until they vanish.
The Ojallah are a bigger form of the Mojallah, having a bigger spherical head. They have their tail tied up in a bun above their head, and they have three BuiBui piloting them. The BuiBui sit just above their head and throw bombs at the LocoRoco. The LocoRoco must knock out each BuiBui one by one, and once the last one is defeated, he will untangle the Ojallah's bun and hang from it. Jiggling this will defeat the Ojallah, and the LocoRoco will be rewarded with it's tail. It is first seen after Bonmucho's first defeat. Majolin commanded it to go after the LocoRoco, with a group of Mojallah floating behind him. In the next few levels, the Ojallah will spread Moja muck at the end of each level. In the second Shamplin and CaloCaro missions, the LocoRoco will have to defeat him and his BuiBui head on.
The last species of Moja introduced to the series was the Mojaja. They make their debut in their final game, LocoRoco: Midnight Carnaval. They appear to have hair tied up in a bun above their head with pink bands, two tiny tentacles behind their head, and two long tentacles hanging from the side of their body. They appear several times in various levels of this game. They have no formal introduction, and are mainly seen hanging around standard Mojas. Their method of defeat is the same of the regular Mojas, just having to be knocked to the ground.
Bonmucho, Majolin, and Galanmar are the most powerful species of Moja, having abilities that are far superior to that of the other Moja species. Unlike normal Moja's, these three suit humanoid forms, clothing, and pearls around their necks. They each have their own unique voices and are able to enjoy sophisticated activities (Bonmucho practicing magic, Majolin enjoying cake/being carried in a carriage, and Galanmar being able to create score cards at the end of the Loco Races). Each of these Mojas have the ability to change form, shoot thorn balls, conjure wind, hypnotize, control Moja muck, and even spawn other Moja. Each of these characters play important roles in the LocoRoco series, commanding the Moja and being the final enemies that the LocoRoco have to face. Once defeated, they continue to maintain their mass rather than being poofed away. Their defeated form appears to be a lumpy circle with bandages on it.
The Moja come from a far away planet. They live inside of it, traveling to different planets via meteorite-like rocks that break off of it's outer shell. The inside is similar to that of the outside, having a red tint to everything. The planet seems to have once inhabited life, having a flower seen at the begging of the second game being killed by their song.
