If you think about it, at its core, a good editing plan has two aspects: control and efficiency. And really, video game controllers are built for just that. They're ergonomic, with all their buttons and joysticks within easy reach, they're designed to have a multitude of controls that enable different functions, and they're often highly customizable.
I managed to make a Lua script that works with a character mapper to use an XBOX controller with the Blackmagic ATEM switchers. Not sure if there's any live video geeks out there that are interested in that, but it certainly made a switcher that doesn't come with an interface quite reasonable to use for regular camera switching.
In Joystick mode, rotating your head left/right is similar to using the left joystick's left/right axis (mode 2). As an example, the more you rotate your head to the left, the faster the aircraft will rotate to the left. The zero point, at which the aircraft will not rotate, is set when VR mode starts using the current mobile device orientation at that time.
During a Track session, you can start an Orbit using the Start Orbit button in the left button bar.
The speed at which the aircraft will orbit can be changed in the Track settings.
Additionally, while Orbit is in progress it is possible to control the aircraft's altitude, pitch and increase/decrease the Orbit speed using the joysticks.
In Follow mode, Litchi takes entire control of the drone to have it follow the tracked object. The maximum aircraft speed in this mode is 10m/s.
It is possible to control the altitude of the drone while Follow is in progress using the joysticks.
For an optimal Follow, avoid selecting an object that is horizontally or vertically aligned with the drone's field of view.
Follow should not be used where the terrain has elevation changes as the aircraft will not adjust its altitude should the tracked object change altitude.
Warning Under non-optimal conditions, Litchi may fail to keep track of the object causing the aircraft to follow an unwanted path. Always be ready to intervene and regain control using the remote controller mode switch or the "Stop Tracking" button.
You can set up to 2 different custom functions, for the C1 (left) and C2 (right) custom keys located on the remote controller.
You can also bind 2 different custom functions to C1 Long press and C2 Long press.
For the Mavic Mini 1 and Mini SE: C1 is the RTH button and C2 is not available. Long press is not supported.
For the Mini 2/Mavic Air 2/Air 2S: single tap on Fn button for C1, double tap on Fn button for C2. Long press is not supported.
For the Spark and Mavic Air: C1 is also called the Fn button.
In addition, for Mavic Pro, Mavic 2 Zoom/Pro or when using the Smart Controller/RC Pro you can bind custom functions to any of the 5 buttons of the 5D joystick.
Note that some elements of the game that require careful positioning (e.g., solving some Secret Notes or placing objects on tables) can not be completed using the default controls; temporarily switching to a control style with a movement joystick is necessary in such cases.
In this post we will take a look at the controls used to play. It is possible to play this game with access to just the left joystick and seven buttons. The right joystick can be used to zoom the map in/out, but you do not need this to play the game.
Normal: this is the classic difficulty setting. The game does not give you much guidance on how to solve puzzles and where to go on the map to progress. You need to be accurate with your joystick and have good timing with button presses to solve puzzles and defeat bosses.
As you progress through the game you will acquire different items and weapons. To equip these, you need to go into your Items menu by pressing +. Use your left joystick to move over the Item you want and press X or Y to assign the weapon to that button. You will need different Items for different challenges within the game. Some of these Items you will acquire through the game story. Some Items you can buy (bow and arrows, bombs) or acquire through side quests (boomerang).
Both sides have ALPS joysticks, which can be clicked-down and an identical trigger set up around the back. You get a regular top trigger - very "clicky" and responsive. Below that - the LZ and RZ inputs, as they are commonly known, are actually analog triggers. That's not something you see every day and has the potential to be game-changing in things like racers, given the proper accompanying software support.
On to asymmetrical controls - the left-hand joystick has a d-pad, while a standard four-button cluster is on the right. Those tiny colorful dots on the front are printed-on, though they look like tiny LEDs. All of the buttons offer nice travel and are fairly-well stabilized. They can feel just a tiny bit mushy, but that may be nitpicking.
We left that little switch for last since it has a lot to do with how the Kunai 3 Gamepad actually works. The joystick's left side is the "master one," for lack of a better term. Out of the pair, it is the only one that has a battery inside and does all of the actual connecting and data transfer. The right-half simply gets wired into it, one way or another, to pass its inputs. This explains why the wired mode works the way it does. It's also the reason why you can actually only use the left half of the joystick without the right one, but not the other way around.
The attachment mechanism feels solid-enough and relies mostly on friction and a rather chunky ball-bearing near the bottom end to hold the joysticks in place. The very-similarly designed Nintendo Switch has a an additional latch mechanism on top to hold its sliding JoyCon controllers in place. It does tend to get worn-out, though, so it's not a perfect solution either. Plus, the Kunai 3 Gamepad never separated while we were using it, so we will deem this solution perfectly adequate.
