Let me begin by introducing you to a bit of Australian Culture.
Check out the following site to learn a little about how Australian's
usually deal with the world around them.

Australians have a very unique way of looking at life. Pretty much
everyone is a mate, and if you're not a mate, then your the enemy.
Australians love to make fun of just about everything, but most of
all, ourselves. Basically, 'taking the piss' out of something or
someone is just part of our culture. Most people think we're lazy.
But, in Australia, we believe that: "we should work hard, but play
hard." As an Australian, thinking about my own culture, I have to
agree with this statement. I enjoy giving all that I can to what I am
doing at work, but equally and enthusiastically enjoy my free time as
well. Which brings us to Australia's favorite pass-time, a few hours
at the pub. But, be warned, we have an annoying little custom known as
the 'shout'. Basically, one person has to pay for everyone's beers,
then the next person pays for everyone's beers, and so on until
everyone has had a 'shout'. Then it starts all over...
