God. Rev. Shannon McCarthy (our locum minister in January, 2024) will be

Brazier will be here to lead the service. Worship will commence at 10:00

Garage sale Thank you: Friday and Saturday were busy days at Yellowknife
United Church with the church garage sale. We made $1223. Thank you to
everyone who brought items for sale, encouraged others to do the same,
and purchased items. A special big thank you to our 17 volunteers who
unpacked, displayed, priced, helped customers, packed it up at the end
of the sale, and helped move items to Vinnie’s, the Salvation Army, and
the CDA trailer.

Blue Bins:

Thank you to our volunteers for May.

We are now seeking volunteers for the following openings in June and beyond.

June 1-15 COOP
June 16-30. Independent and Fieldhouse
June 16-30 COOP
July 1-15 Independent and Fieldhouse
July 16-31 COOP
July 16-31 Independent and Fieldhouse

If you are able to help out, please let Terrilyn or Marg know.
Summer can be a busy time and if you would like to help but spend
weekends at the cabin or campground, that’s ok. We have volunteers who
can help out on weekends.
Remember that if you have students needing Community Service hours, this
is eligible. If you don’t have a car but would like to help, we can find
you a partner with a vehicle that just needs an extra pair of hands.
Many hands make light work and we appreciate your help on this
worthwhile project that contributes to the life and work of the church.

Thank you from the Stewardship committee.

Mission and Service Story:
The Work of Water

In the villages of Am-am and Madalipey in the Philippines, Indigenous
families depend on small-scale vegetable farming to support their
households. The gardens they tend provide food and a modest income for
daily needs.

But over time, the land has changed. As agriculture has expanded, parts
of the surrounding forest have been cleared, reducing the land’s ability
to hold water. The impacts of climate change have made rainfall patterns
less predictable, and dry reasons run longer. For much of the year,
local creeks are dry, and water must be brought in from elsewhere. It’s
a constant challenge that affects both daily life and the ability to
grow crops.

In response, the Cordillera People’s Alliance is working alongside
residents to install a solar-powered water pump and storage tank. The
system will be maintained locally, ensuring that the community has
access to water and ownership of the solution.

With a more stable source of water for both household use and gardens,
families can strengthen their livelihoods. Gardens can grow more
reliably, daily needs become easier to meet, and pressure on households
eases.

When we give through Mission and Service, our gifts are powering long-
term support.

Our gifts to Mission and Service help provide stable access to water for
Indigenous communities like Am-am and Madalipey. They help sustain life,
strengthen food security, and support families as they work toward a
more secure future.
