"Word and Wonder" Kits - During our Sunday worship we want to be sure
that people of all ages are included in our worship time. As we do not
have a formal Sunday school/teacher each week, there are kits/bags at
the back of the auditorium that contain a weekly message for kids based
on the lectionary, some drawing materials, some small toys and a snack.
The kits are to be picked up AFTER the all-ages time. We hope the kids
will find these of interest—let us know if they like them!
The Word and Wonder (W&W) activity will be added to the Weekly Helper's
chart; the weekly Volunteer would ensure the kits are updated with that
week's handout (printed and located just inside the church office), and
at least two small toys/activity and a snack. Supplies are in a large
plastic bin in the Supply Room opposite the office if needed. If there
are a large number of kids, or kids need to run off some energy, we also
ask that the Volunteer for that week be willing to take the kids to the
Nursery with their W&W kits. (A sheet with more information will be
posted on the side bulletin board; for more information please ask
Laurie G. or Rev. Alison.)
Congregational Meeting Sunday February 15th - There will be a two part
meeting of the Congregation of Yellowknife United Church on Sunday
February 15th after Church in the NUP auditorium, starting at 12:30pm.
First will be the Annual Financial General Meeting; this is an
opportunity for the congregation to review the financial reports and
the proposed budget for Yellowknife United Church.
The second meeting (approximate start 1:15pm) will be a special meeting
of the Congregation to vote on a recommendation from the Ministry and
Personal Committee and confirmed by the Official Board, to enter into a
call with Rev. Alison Mock to be our permanent Minister of Word,
Sacrament and Pastoral Care.
Please note: There will be a Zoom option (sent out via GoogleGroup next
week) for people who cannot attend in person; unfortunately the second
meeting does not allow voting by Proxy.
Book Club - We meet March 1 at 12:15 in Room 215 to discuss Jayber Crow
by Wendell Berry. It's the story of the barber of a small community in
Kentucky whose work helps him find the answers to some of the questions
that drove him to drop out of seminary years earlier. There are print
copies on order at the bookstore and through on-line sites in both hard
and e-reader editions. The public library's Hoopla site has audio
copies. All are welcome to book club.

Our schedule is filling for the next couple of months, thank you.
Looking for volunteers for the following:
March 16-31 Coop
April 1-15 Independent and Fieldhouse
April 16-30 Coop
April 16-30 Independent and Fieldhouse
I will be away for most of April and it would be great to have the
schedule filled in advance so the scheduling doesn’t have to be left to
others to plan. This is an important fundraiser for our church and many
hands make light work.
If you have students that require community service hours, this does
count and we are happy to sign the required paperwork.
If you would like to help but maybe don’t have a vehicle, that’s ok! We
have people with vehicles who could use an extra pair of hands.
If you are able to help, please let Terrilyn know.

Mission and Service Story
Support That Grows with Families:
Becoming a parent or guardian is a life-changing, complex experience
that doesn’t have a one-size-fits-all answer. As kids, we looked to
adults for guidance as we navigated the world with fresh eyes. Now, as
adults, we recognize that we’re still figuring things out as we go, and
there’s always an opportunity to grow our skills and minds.
In London, Ontario, Mission and Service partners with the London
Community Chaplaincy as they respond to parents and guardians who want
to build a network of support, share the parenting journey, and develop
new skills as they navigate raising children in a low-income setting.
Together, these parents are working hard to build a positive future for
their children and families.
Each week, London Community Chaplaincy provides a welcoming and safe
social setting for adults to connect and grow as parents. Not only do
they learn how to guide a child through critical stages of development,
but also how to navigate being a parent or guardian while managing
financial stress, food insecurity, housing complications, and more.
Gathering with other adults in a similar situation allows participants
to share their struggles and triumphs, further building a sense of
community.
Your gifts to Mission and Service support partnerships like the London
Community Chaplaincy as they help empower parents along the parenting
journey. Thank you.
