Dear YKUC Friends:
A couple of very quick notes to guide us through the next 10 days as we make the journey to Easter:
Lenten Evening Zoom Prayers will happen tonight (Thursday) and Saturday at 8pm. Because of the many things in town going on Friday, Lenten prayers will not happen on Friday night. As Holy Week begins this Sunday, there will be a multitude of other opportunities to observe the week. Thus, we will conclude Lenten Zoom prayers this Saturday at 8pm. Thank you to all who have joined us, even once or twice, for this practice. It's been incredibly rich and valuable to me.
This Sunday, Palm/Passion Sunday, will be an interactive creative walk through Holy Week with a craft entitled "Holy Week in a Box." There is no glitter or glue, only markers and scissors, as well as a chance to enter into the story in a tactile way. Communion will also be served at our tables.
Easter Sunday Pickup Choir: Elizabeth Brace has kindly offered the opportunity to sing an Easter Anthem to any who are interested. There will be two rehearsals during Holy Week for singers (at a time to be decided by the group). Please let Elizabeth or me know ASAP if you would like to sing. Elizabeth can be reached at
elizabe...@yk1.nt.ca
Three Special Events during Holy Week are:
Lenten Lunch (hosted by YKUC) on Wednesday, April 1st at Noon (Holy Trinity)
Foot Washing Service for Maundy Thursday on Thursday, April 2nd at 6:30pm at the Manse, 5612 50A Avenue
Worship for Good Friday on Friday, April 3rd at 11am in our Chapel
Finally, if you're considering taking in "one last film" at the Capitol Theatre before it closes, may I recommend Project Hail Mary? I've now seen it twice, and read the book three times, and it will definitely factor into my Easter Sunday sermon. Who doesn't want to see Ryan Gosling save several solar systems? Go see it!!
Cheers,
Alison
