Dear YIPPS.

Establishing a local chapter of Families for Safe Streets is a critical path to elevate the voices of people personally impacted by fatal and serious injury crashes for positive change.

Chapters provide peer support to those personally impacted and advocate for life saving changes. Chapters are typically established in partnership with a host institution. For us in DC, we are fortunate to partner with WABA.

With the leadership of enterprising Council Members and support of institutional partners and chapter allies, DC-FSS members were instrumental in sharing their voices to get the STEER Act passed.

A major FSS campaign in states across the country is Stop Super Speeders. If you're ready to take a big step in your community, check out this training -

If you are looking to establish an FSS chapter in your community - this is an enriching opportunity to build knowledge, find your voice in safe streets advocacy getting started next week!

Families for Safe Streets National is offering its phenomenal 12-week chapter training (every other Thursday at noon, for an hour) covering a range of vital topics: safety science basics, chapter set-up, campaign planning, media engagement, and member outreach strategies. This is an excellent way to expand your horizons and connect with kindred spirits.

Folks can sign up hereRSVP. The kickoff is Thursday, January 15, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. ET.

Several of our members have attended and can vouch for the quality of the content and its masterful delivery. This is a top-notch experience we are eager to share with you as we grow this community.

Please keep us posted if you do sign up - we'd love to hear from you.

Many thanks and warm wishes for the new year,
Faith
Co-Chair, DC-FSS Chapter
