BuroHappold Cities brings together the expertise of world class engineers, economists and consultants to examine cities from a variety of angles, giving our clients a unique picture of the challenges to tackle and the assets and opportunities their city can capitalise on. Working on a diverse range of fascinating projects that cover urban development, infrastructure planning and design, resource management, and programme delivery, our Cities business unit is at the forefront of innovation in the urban environment.

We are now looking to bring on a full-time hire to support our team on a number of major projects underway in the New York office. This role will see you obtain exposure to exciting local projects involving urban planning and policy, energy management, stakeholder engagement, sustainability, and economic development. The Cities team specifically seeks individuals with interest  in sustainability planning, energy, waste or water management, as well as broader knowledge of urban policy and urban planning. 

What will you be doing?

  • Research, mapping and analysis 
  • Report writing and documentation of project work
  • Graphic presentations
  • Facilitation of workshops and interviews
  • Support to senior staff in client meetings
  • Project management support, including scheduling client meetings, financial management, coordination of subconsultants, etc.
  • Market research on clients and potential clients
  • Preparation of proposals to potential clients
  • Assist in the development of promotional and publicity materials

What are we looking for?

Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree in urban studies, economics, environmental science, environmental studies, or a related field.

Candidates should also have:

  • Excellent writing and research skills
  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Experience of Adobe InDesign and/or Illustrator, GIS
  • Knowledge of MSProject (optional)
  • Knowledge of Stata, SPSS, SAS (optional)
