Pikes Peak region is now a ‘Sentinel Landscape,’ but what does that mean?

The Pikes Peak region has been selected as a “ Sentinel Landscape ” by the federal government. The designation, announced last week, names the region as a national priority for resource management and conservation projects. That is, provided those projects benefit the area’s five military bases. About two years of work from local and national conservation groups went into the application process for the designation.
