A young man met an old teacher of his after many years. He was delighted to see him and went up and said "I'm so and so and studied in your class when I was a boy. Do you remember me?"
The teacher said no. The boy said "well you inspired me so much that I decided to become a teacher myself which I am today, because of you.
The teacher said that was nice. The boy said "I want to tell you a story which happened in our class. I came from a poor family and when I saw a friend with a watch, I just had to have it so I took it from his pocket during lunch hour. It was dear to him and he immediately came to you and reported that it had been stolen. You didnt scold us or call any of us names, you simply asked us to blindfold ourselves and stand in a line. You then checked everyone's pockets and when you found the watch you quietly gave it to the owner. You did not scold me at all after that, nor make me feel bad about myself. I told myself that day what a noble soul you were and that I would one day become a teacher (achary) as you. Do you still not recognize me?"
"How could I dear boy, I was blindfolded too"
I leave you to dwell upon the import of that last line. The teachers that truly feel it their calling and solemn duty DO STAND out. Let's not celebrate teachers day only once a year, lets celebrate them everyday and try to imbibe the qualities they embody.
