Dear Family and Friends,
It is with a heavy heart that we are packing up to head to the capital city for 4 weeks, potentially longer. Things have been escalating in the last couple of weeks with very dangerous and unstable situations happening in broad daylight just a stone’s throw from our house. As the elections get closer (October 7th), tension continues to increase.
On Saturday night, the separatists commandeered an excavator and tore up a large chunk of the main road about 10 miles from Bamenda. This was an attempt to stop all traffic coming in and out of the region. Thankfully the military reopened the road the next day as this is the only way out. Now the separatists are announcing that all roads will be blocked and there will be no movement from the 16th to stop anyone one trying to come in to campaign or vote.

We have our dear butcher friends here from Missouri that have been revamping the Helping Hands Meat Market for the last 6 months. They are scheduled to fly home at the end of the month so we need to make sure that we leave before roads are closed. Also Josh and Seth will be on school break at the beginning of October so we need to get to them too. So after much prayer and counsel, we think it is best to leave Bamenda until after the elections and roads are secure once again. This has not been an easy decision and we feel a little overwhelmed by it all. We hate that we have to leave all our staff and HHCH children here in the conflict zone but we will be communicating with them daily.

We are busy packing up and figuring out what we need to bring. Thankfully we have been able to rent a fully furnished house from a missionary family that is currently on furlough (this is right next to our boy’s school). I will continue to homeschool and Jake will be using the extra time to get Bible School curriculum digitalized and improved, something he has been needing to do for some time now but hasn’t had the chance to get it done.
This conflict has displaced thousands of people and we are now among them. Thankfully, we have somewhere to go and have faithful partners to help us along the way. This is not the case for so many, please join us in prayer for those who are struggling to survive during this time. Many people are living in the bush for fear of returning to their villages with all the fighting going on. For the average person trying to sell their wares in the market, this is a very trying and dangerous time.

As we look to the immediate future it is full of uncertainties. But we will continue to put our hope and trust in the Lord. Please read the prayer points below and lift this country, Win Our Nations, and our family up to the Lord in your daily prayers. Feel free to pass this on to your church, small group, etc.
Thank you and God bless,
The Ski Clan ><>
