The purpose of pioneering the first space research group in any African university which happen to be in Nigeria was to encourage undergraduate students to take up interest in research in outer space affairs as a replacememnt for idleness in order to focus their (students) energy on something worthwhile and build their future in their undergraduate days.

I will likie to contribute in the following areas as related to Nigeria / Africa expecially in the areas of Niger Delta where kidnaping is rampant and how GNSS can be used to combat the menance:

1)How does GNSS contribute to the society?

    Fields of applications of GNSS

2)Youth and GNSS

How does GNSS contribute to youth? How do youth contribute to
GNSS?

3)
GNSS and Future

Evolution of GNSS application and how it will affect the future
society.

When is the deadline for the submission.

Great!

Thank you Paul for your willingness to particpate in this
initiative!!!

I think we can divide up the sections to write a draft, then integrate
things together.

Here are some general rules:
- Assume that our audience (youth) don't know anything about the
GNSS
- Use as simple language as possible
- be clear and straight forward
- Highlight major points
- 300 words per each section

Let's get the first drafts done by November 14. Then we can edit to
match the tone and styles by November 21.
Finish the graphics and design by November 28. Then publish the
brochure by December to meet the ICG meeting.

Page 1 - [ ]
Page 2 - Paul
Page 3 - Paul
Page 4 - Paul
Page 5 - So Young
Page 6 - So Young
Editing - So Young

We still need some volunteers for the following parts:
- Page 1: What is GNSS?
- Designer (Jefferey, since you have the experience, would you
please take up this task? I'm sure you can give some professional
touch on this)
- Translators (Also, as soon as we finish the edition in English,
we would need volunteer translators to make this brochure available in
different languagues.)

To make our work most efficient, let's share our draft documents
through google doc. I will shortly send a link for this to you all.
I will also put up a signup sheet for translation.

regards,
So Young

So Young,

As you know, I can look go over the edits and final drafts with you.

I am glad there are people volunteering (Thanks Paul and Ahmed!!), and it would be great if we had 2-3 more people helping out! We'll show the world what the international youth power can do! :)

Hi,

As a geography student with keen interest in Outerspace affairs, I think I should be able to define GNNS in an ordinary language.

Please just give me up to next week Thursday to send all my contributions. I will start the complation by Monday.

Thanks
Paul

Ahmed,
Could you please find some examples from Kwait that will be suitable to include in our Brochure/Presentation?
A GNSS story with Youth highlighted will be best suited as well as any GNSS use addressing local-specific issue.
If you haven't done so, please have a look at the following "Call for Submission". Please also forward it to anyone you know would be interested.

Also your help with translation will be very much appreciated!

Of course, and you know you have the most important task - to secure the founding from NASA! ;-)
With your skills, I am sure it wouldn't be a problem though.

Let's make sure that when you go attend the ICG meeting to represent our team, you have a cool looking brochure.

Again, sorry for the mistake.

Hi Friends,

I had already compiled information related to GNSS/ GPS as related to local issues.Fortunately I used GPS equipment for my Final Year Undergraduate project. All these will be ready on or before Friday.

FANTASTIC!

Thanks Paul! It seems perfect since Jeffrey is ready to get some work done this weekend on the design. Everything is coming together great in terms of timing then, as that seems be one of the main issues (as ICG is coming up)! The people I am talking to NASA and Trimble Navigations are impressed with us so let's continue the good work!

Hi Stephanie Wan ,

Thanks for replying me on time.
Is there a way we can get some space material and some models from NASA to public schools in Nigeria / Africa courtesy. This materials will be forwarded to the department of Geography Obafemi Awolowo University,Ile - Ife. The department of Geography will now forward it to some designated schools.

Ironically the agency whose primary function is to promote space in Nigeria are doing it to promote their selfish interest thereby hindering the free flow of information from the Nigeria public

In Nigeria space is confined to the four wall of National Space Research  And Development Agency and I dont believe it suppose to be so.So I am looking at public participation in promoting space and its usefulness in Nigeria / Africa.

Having pioneered the first space club in Nigeria/ Africa, I have been priviledged to have been able to partner with some media organization in Nigeria.

Can we use YGNSS to promote space among the Nigeria / African Youths?

Since the time I came back from Japan (SGC/IAC in 2005) I have not been allowed to share my experiences because they believe space is an exclusive area that is not meant for general consumption.

Again in Nigeria / Africa they dont believe students expecially undergraduates know anything about space  and most of what I saw in Japan nobody had ever embarked on such a thing here in Africa and that is why I am eagerly willing to participate in order to share one of those things I learnt in Japan.
