Dear YETI attendees,
At YETI Curent Conservation Magazine was partnering with an online campaign called Biodiversity 100 and was asking people to contribute their thoughts on the most important thing the government should do to save biodiversity. A number of you were keen to participate, but were unable to turn in your recommendations, possibly as YETI was so packed with events.
We are able to receive contributions till Monday morning, and if you can send in something by then, it would be great. Please mail your recommendations to me at this address or to
edi...@currentconservation.org
To refresh you about the campaign:
You might be aware of a campaign called Biodiversity 100 launched by George Monbiot and Guillome Chaperon in collaboration with the Guardian, where they are soliciting people to contribute suggestions that countries must implement to halt biodiversity loss. The best of these will be complied and submitted to the CBD meet to be held in Japan in October 2010.
Current Conservation is now a liaison within India for this program and we are contacting people to submit recommendations. we are soliciting these at YETI over the next two days.
I attach a poster which we are circulating to inform people about this program. I think it would be great if you could put in some recommendations. These will be printed in our next issue of Current Conservation, and we will also be submitting this to Guardian. We are working on a short deadline, as the meeting is not far, and right now we have committed to sending them some pieces by Friday. These can be between 100-300 words or more in length.
The following format can be used for your submission
Name:
Email:
Action you recommend:
Description of the problem (100 words or more):
Evidence (from scientific studies or other work): Can also link to or include citations of papers, reports or articles.
Guardian has an online form you could use, but I request you to also send us a copy of your submission so we can reprint it in Current Conservation. In case you are attending YETI, I will be at the Current Conservation stall at YETI if you have any questions about this. Please feel free to circulate this to others.

Guardian has drafted a letter to the environment minister Jairam Ramesh, and contributions from YETI can potentially be included in this letter.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Nandini
