Hey all - just sharing some resources with you. I made the email below to get my teachers up and running with Zoom. I got myself a pro account and then signed everyone else for basic accounts using a csv import, and then I got them to install and verify certain important settings that will make sure their Zoom meetings run efficiently. I used a google form to also have them verify that they did the right settings. I made a non-FMS-only version of the google form here for you to view, feel free to copy it.

Why Zoom, you may ask? Well, if you go here, you can ask Zoom to lift the 40 minute video restriction for basic users. I did that on Tuesday and it was lifted today. So, I proceeded to hound my staff to sign up for Zoom so we were all in here and verify their settings etc. Enjoy, feel free to share, etc.

Please note that all of this was done in haste and might not be so professional-looking - brevity and timeliness over quality, right? No judgment!

Health and good luck to all!

[THIS EMAIL APPLIES TO ZOOM EXPERTS AND BEGINNERS - EVERYONE MUST READ AND VERIFY YOUR CORRECT SETTINGS WITH ME.]

Hi everyone, I first want to say thank you in advance to everyone for the amount of flexibility that the next period of time will require. I'm trying to make this as easy as possible for you, but there will always be more questions - please feel free to reach out to me via email or call me at 551-486-7457 for anything you need.

Second, I need you to personally verify that your Zoom settings are set correctly. After you have either a) watched the videos below, or b) navigated to the settings yourself and verified the settings are correct, I need you to go to this google form and fill it out so I have a tracker of which teachers have done this. I will continue to email you until you do this. I need to make a list of teachers' personal meeting rooms for dissemination to the students, and I can't do that until EVERY teacher has put that on in their settings. Thank you.

OK, moving on - I have created two screencasts for you to view (scroll down for the 2nd one on Zoom basics):
  1. How to install, run, and set the correct settings in Zoom (click for screencast)
    1. This covers the basics of installation and getting up and running so you are connected to your school account and a member of the "team" I made. (It ends abruptly because I hit my 5 min time limit on Elana's computer, but I get to all the important stuff.)
    2. It also asks you to set a VERY important setting of using your personal Meeting IDs for meetings:
      image.png
    3. As well, turning OFF needing to use a password to enter is very important:
      image.png
    4. It also covers the fact that you should NOT start a meeting by clicking "Host a Meeting"
      image.png
    5. You should instead be starting a meeting from your personal meeting rooms tab. I explain the following important highlighted areas in that screencast:

  2. How-To Zoom (click for the screencast)
    1. In this video, we go over the basics of hosting a Zoom session, including:
      1. Starting
      2. Recording
      3. Screen Share (including using a white board-type thing for annotating)
      4. Upload recorded class to google drive
    2. No, the video is not sped up at all - I just really am talking that fast

Thank you for taking the time to read this email. As always, reach out to me by email or phone (551-486-7457) if you need me. I am making myself available as much as possible over the next few days.

Wishing good health and luck to everyone!
