Purchasing Chromebooks

Shavua tov,

I was wondering if anyone has positive experience with a specific vendor or a specific brand of chromebooks.

We purchased 20 two years ago and three of them are supposedly not fixable with motherboard issues.

We need to purchase some more chromebooks and I am looking for recommendations.

We have used dell and Asus and they are both good. However, I doubt you will be able to get your hands on any chrome books. My order from July is pushed (again) until November sometime.

Shi has chromebooks on hand right now. Or at least they did last week. I would check with them.

Also CDW. At least that's where we got ours.

See if your local school district has any grant program(s) set up for Cares Act funding as there was an allowance for technology(Chromebooks) in the bill that was passed.

We got 12 new ones from CARES funding but now some of the older ones broke after 2 years.

The Dell 3100 chromebooks are back in stock with Dell. CDW says they will have this coming week but get your orders in ASAP.

As for models of chromebooks, 3 in 20 is unfortunately not way off from the rates that I have seen in general. I have used chromebooks from Acer, ASUS, Dell, Samsung, HP, Google, Lenovo in decent numbers. All of them have had a noticeable fail rate with time and (ab)use. Plan for spares and/or a service contract. We have done will with about 10-15 spares and a warranty/accidental damage coverage with a large fleet of devices. Devices will need repair but having some spares leads to a seamless workflow. The cloud nature of Chromebooks also means the data loss and transfer during the process is pain free. This needs to be built into the cost of the devices.

We always get our Dell Chromebooks from Gov Connection. We ordered in June and they are now expected in January.

I get my dell chroembooks from dell.

I ordered in may and had then in july.

I ordered them again in early oct, and they are shipping November second.
