Question for the group or group leaders--

I know some people who were not on any official teams or whose teams have not formed up and who would like to stay involved.  What is the procedure for adding folks to the group?

Also, it seems that Pres. Obama may want some grass roots support for upcoming programs.  How is that to be handled?

One more thing--a bunch of trainings and other dates were mentioned at the meeting.  Are those listed somewhere with contacts?  I'm not sure I took good notes.

It is my understanding that new people are welcome. I don't have the
technical skill to tell you how a new person joins a google group.
Maybe Russ can help with that.

We are meeting at my house at 2 PM Sunday Feb 1. to look at how we can
support the re-election of Chief Justice Shirley Abrahamson. Perhaps
part of the agenda should include technical info and calendar.

There is a effort to organize a grassroots effort for Shirley Abrahamson.  If you are interested in being informed of that effort, please send me an email.

Everyone is welcome to join the group as long as a current member is willing to vouch for them.

There are two ways to join. If you know someone who wants to become a member, you can just send a message to the group requesting that they be sent an invitation. Include their email address, and one of the moderators will take it from there. Or, they can just go to the group homepage and click the "Apply for group membership" link on the right side.

Hi everyone!

I think it might be a good idea to send a membership invitation to Ron Beidseil (Middleton's Obama group) to avoid duplication of efforts here.  They seem to be following a similar path to ours and direct communication would be a very good thing!

Also, with Cub Foods closing down, Allied Drive is in a food crisis.  I have proposed creation of a Cooperative Grocery store in the neighborhood that the residents can control and run, however, it will take some political and social work to establish it.  I spoke with Mike Bodden and Judy Washbush about it last week and I'm doing a little research to find out exactly what would be involved in setting one up that would be something like the grocery cooperatives that have been running in other parts of town since the 60's.  Anne and Mike Bodden are also working to temporarily provide a bus service that goes to Woodman's or Copps.  It is also meeting various kinds of City/Allied red tape and cultural issues so if anyone is interested in helping in these areas, lobbying or whatever to assist in solving the lack of a grocery store in that part of town,  you can contact the allied food pantry and/or Anne and Mike to volunteer :).  It might be a good "service-side" activity for our group as well if anyone wants to take the issue up.
