Dear GEN Europe members,
Our most important event is approaching - the annual General Assembly (GA)! We invite you once again to exercise your power as a member of GEN Europe and send delegates to the GA, which will be held from the 11 July 2019 from 10:00 am till 13th July 2019 14:00 in La Comune di Bagnaia , Via di Bagnaia 37, Ancaiano - Sovicille (SI).
The GA Agenda
Through this link you can find the the draft GA Agenda, note that it will be subject to changes as the GA approaches. We are inviting you to suggest any topic you think the General Assembly should discuss or develop this year by the 1st of June. We remind you also that if you would wish to propose any statute changes this year to submit your statute change proposal to the secre...@gen-europe.org by the that same date. The Council meets internally on the 13th of June to discuss the submitted proposals.
This year´s GA will be focused on the council elections, for which we propose the following:
1. We want to get to know each other before the actual elections, and therefore ask all the delegates to fill in the delegate profile form. The information about the delegates will be accessible through a shared folder, and be visible at the GA. Fill in the form here.
2. At the GA, we will form groups of 5-8 people who will have 5 stickers to vote on the candidates on the wall. The groups will have to bring relevant arguments for each sticker they vote, based on the strategic areas and council criteria. This will allow us to have both argumented and visual information towards preferences expressed by all members.
3. Then we will hold the elections in a sociocratic manner, just as other years, where only voting delegates are allowed to give input..
Delegate spots
We warmly invite you to join this years GA, and take advantage of the conference fee reduced places (delegate spots) it entitles you to. GEN Europe can reimburse 33% of travel costs (up to a maximum of 200 EUR) only to the person who is legally representing and voting for the member. For the year 2019 every full ecovillage member will avail of three delegate places; one of the three delegates must attend the GA. Ecovillage networks will avail of five delegate places as they represent a network of ecovillages, one of the five delegates must attend the GA. Aspiring members avail to one delegate place are welcome to send an observing delegate to the GA, but cannot apply for travel reimbursement.
We remind you the general agreement that membership fees must be paid before the start of the GA.
Please consider carefully when choosing the delegate. We recommend you take into consideration that those who contribute to the conference through volunteer translations or giving a workshop should be considered first to take the places. We also hope you will consider giving these spots to the young people of your community to give them the chance to attend the General Assembly and the conference. This would allow them to participate and learn how our organisation works, network with other youth and potentially bring fresh energy into our working groups and council.
Presentations and full membership applications
If you wish give a presentation about your community to the GA, please inform fa...@gen-europe.org *note that new members and aspiring members applying for full membership have priority. There will be an informal session in the evening in which more of you will have the opportunity to present your projects. The deadline for aspiring members to apply for full membership is on the 1st of June. To apply for full membership fill in the membership application form attached to this email and send it to us by that date.
Online participation
Any member who wants to participate in the General Assembly through an electronic communication media, must ask the council in writing by letter, fax or email for permission at least 2 weeks before the General Assembly and state his/her reason(s) for wanting to do so. The council is not obliged to permit participation by electronic communication media and will consider each application on its own merit and as an exception to the regular rule of being physically present at the General Assembly.
