Dear ecovillagers,
We hereby send you the information concerning our current research
project regarding the collection of legal barriers experienced by
ecovillages. This work and your participation is of great
importance to devise tools that can help ecovillages grow and
flourish.
Project Description
Background: From our experience, one of the most prevailing
challenges to the growth of ecovillages are the challenges they
face in achieving allowances from local governments or the
barriers of national laws.
Project Aim: The final aims of this project is to 1) map the legal barriers that European ecovillages are facing and 2) Collect and gather in a database legal documents ect. from contexts where legal barriers have been overcome.
Long-term aim: We believe that a database of legal documents
relevant to the challenges that ecovillages are facing, will
assist GEN Europe, the National Networks and the individual
ecovillages in overcoming legal challenges to ecovillages. The
database will enable us to compare the legality of the range of
areas in one country, or municipal setting, to the other. This
will grant a strong basis for argumentation in the local context.
Project outline: The achievement of the final aim is thus parted
in two separate steps 1) map current legal barriers experienced by
European Ecovillages and 2) collect and gather in a common
database, the legal tools in the form of documents and other
communications from communities.
With the current research, we are initiating the first part of
the project; mapping the legal barriers. We are thus inviting all
European ecovillages to fill in a survey, reporting all of the
legal barriers that they are facing. With your help in filling in
the survey, GEN Europe will collect all the legal barriers
experienced by European ecovillages and compile them in a final
report.
Please send the filled in surveys to secre...@gen-europe.org
Thank you for participating and generating change!
With gratitude,
