To avoid DD/ Pay order charges for my two plots allotted by YEIDA, I
plan to give YEIDA a request letter. The clause for payment by DD/PO
is clause 4 in brochure and no payment is accepted by cash, but maybe
they can accept cheques. Charges for pay order can work out to be
quite a lot (maybe Rs 500/- per payment) Those in the forum wishing to
make a similar request to YEIDA, may download the contents/ format of
the letter which I have uploaded. You may also send me your letter
with the details in word format or PDF. I can deposit the same on your
behalf when I go to YEIDA sometime next week since more the
applications with me, the better are my chances of being heard. The
response to my call to YEIDA yesterday in this regard was “Payment by
draft is Authority’s policy. We cannot comment”. More applications =
better case, so mail me at radixc...@gmail.com if interested.

I do have my reservations and do not think YEA/Bank will accept
cheques (it has its own ramifications because if the cheque is dis-
honoured, YEA can not technically cancel your allotment similar to
insurance policy). Otherwise, the receiving bank will not give you a
receipt of the cheque until the money is cashed.

But, no harm in trying. I will suggest people to keep the receipt of
the money paid to YEA which will be the only supporting document
needed during plot registration, after 4 years.

You are probably right
But I have worded the application as below, which may make things
possible:
"
Sir, as you would know, the banks charge heavy commission for making
drafts and pay orders. I request you to allow payment to be made for
the cheque whereby:
1. A certain penalty can be imposed as cheque bouncing charges to
prevent allottees from issuing cheques wrongly, OR,
2. The receipt for the payment may be given by the bank upon clearing
of the cheque
"
