Driving with old tyres could be dangerous on Yamuna Expressway

Noida: If you are ready to run your vehicle at a high speed on Yamuna
Expressway, this news might make you feel more alert. As the concrete
materials used to construct the 165-km corridor, owners of such
vehicles using old tyres on the wheels may face the incident of tire
burst on the way while passing through Yamuna Expressway. However, the
developer, Jaypee Group, initially indicated that since the usage of
concrete material for paving roads, it may unfit for old tyres
resulting in tire burst. Therefore, developer pleaded people to drive
carefully when your vehicles running on old tires.
Two days ago, an authority official met with an incident of tyres
burst on Expressway while he was driving his car using old tyres.
Experts say that as using the material of concrete for paving roads,
particularly old tyres rapidly gets heat resulting in tire burst.
Taking the review of other expressway in county, many incidents are
often reported caused by old tires. On the other hand, work on the
expressway is in the final stages of completion. Though the deadline
has repeatedly been pushed back, this time things are expected to fall
in place by the scheduled date.
Meanwhile, RITES has been given another one week to survey the 165-km
corridor. RITES would estimate the quality of Yamuna Expressway and
public convenience on it. After the one week, RITES will submit its
detailed report to Noida Authority.
The expressway will have six interchanges and ramps. Underpasses and
bridges have been built to provide connectivity to areas along the
expressway. To ensure commuters` safety, CCTV cameras will be
installed at regular intervals. Mobile radars will be used to monitor
speeding. Ambulance services, petrol sheds, rest-houses and a food
court are also in the offing.
